Is STRAND releasing anything on BD? If so I'd say it's a safe bet PBP will eventually get released. It's a definite cult classic and probably one of their better sellers.

A surprising number of "smaller" releases are getting put out due to ownership of a lot of them being with smaller studios, etc.

I'd never thought I'd see the following, especially so early in the life of BD -- but we have 'em.

Black Christmas (1974)
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Near Dark
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Bound
Rock & Roll High School
The Stepfather (it took a studio remake to even get the DVD out, in 2009... it was OOP on VHS for like 15 years prior...)

Just like there are plenty of titles that never made it to DVD -- there are several might not get put on BD... but sometimes things will surprise you. Troll 2? Hey, it's apparently deemed a sellable title (I know I want a copy... )

If a smaller studio owns a title and it's might make them a lot of money -- they'll get it out there.

I don't think Strand have any BD's for sale. Heck they still sell vhs including a collection of silent hardcore shorts which was on their main store page. Go figure.

I've personally never seen Psycho Beach Party sold in stores where I live or most strand titles. It also took several years for the price to even drop from a ridiculous $36.99 to a reasonable $15 in canada online.

I was maybe 6 or 7 when this was making the rounds on cable back in the early 80s, don't know how many times I watched it. I bought the DVD collector's edition a few years back, comes with a nice little booklet with animated drawings, movie poster card on back of chapter list, thx/dts soundtrack and 1:85 aspect ratio. Nice all around presentation. Hope the people that bring it to Blu love it as much as I do.
I'll only be happy if all three are released on blu ray whcih I doubt. They're kick @$$ movies for sure.

Harvard Man... worst movie I have ever seen. The Order was pretty bad too, but it was released. Guess you never know.

Blood In Blood Out.

Would love to see a Blu-ray of this film. I just don't think it will ever happen.

Restoration - a very underrated early 90's Downey Jr. period drama. David Thewles, Meg Ryan, Ian McDiarmid, Ian McKellen, Sam Neill... a great cast, great movie but one very few people seem to remember. I'll be holding on to that DVD for a long while I imagine.

I'd say its very likely those ones will get a Blu-ray release some day.

I am actually quite surprised Team America and the American Pie's haven't already got a release.

Poltergeist 2 and 3 are also available in Germany.

Quite shocked they didn't release Jackass 1 and 2 to coincide with 3-D's release

So what makes every one so sure these movies will never be released on Blu-ray? A few years ago everyone thought Armageddon would never come to BD because the original film transfer "supposedly" was destroyed in a fire, yet today it is available and a rather good transfer.

I guess there is a chance, but no news of Dogville or Irreversible is worrying to me.

I've been holding out for a set that includes the first three "American Pie" movies.

I'm also wondering if all the "Porky's" movies will come to BD.

They all probably will eventually.

There are companies that specialize in releasing a lot of genre films listed; you have Synapse, Blue Underground, Arrow UK, Dark Sky, Shout Factory.... You can count on Lionsgate to dig into their multi-company catalog for some cheap $8-9 releases, and they do own Vestron. Also a restructured MGM has a ton of hd masters shown on MGM HD as well (I've seen everything from Corman+Price films, to Mario Bava films, Terrorvision, Monster Dog, UHF, Buckaroo Banzai, etc.), and they can make some money going the Lionsgate cheap release route if they wanted to (heck they already released Troll 2 and Return of the Living Dead) .

Movies that haven't seen proper DVD releases will probably never get BD releases. Thousands of obscure (and some not so obscure) titles from before 1996 will probably never get a BD release.
