How was Flashpoint and SPL. Is it worth the import?

Both are definitely worth owning. Flash Point is reference quality stuff. SPL was great too, but I think there were a couple moment where the PQ seemed to not be that great, but the sound is great in it. It's all a matter of preference I suppose. I personally think they're both worth the import. Flash Point especially. That last fight between Donnie and Collin Chou is incredible in HD.

Everyone hyped up SPL. I finally watched it, it wasn't so great.
Although I love the Boxart, it looks so intensed, I mean Donnie Yen vs Sam Heug

I say, get Flashpoint instead. That has one of the best fighting ever!


The problem is, Movie: Starring Donnie Yen. Yet Donnie doesn't even play the leading role, he's just there to give the movie some action martial arts:/

I mean Flashpoint wasn't about Donnie Yen but his partner, although he took the show because of the fight scene. The same goes to SPL!


I really hate this.
Also if you want other Donnie Yen movies, Dragon Tiger Gate is an awesome movie and Ip man (Internet Provider Man:P)


As for Shadowless Sword.
I downloaded the Blu-Ray video, but can't watch it on Laptop >:@!

How is the movie? good? superb? crap?

C'mon, SPL was way better than Dragon Tiger Gate at least. If you're going to hype up one of the two it's gotta go to SPL. Dragon Tiger Gate had, like, one good fight in it...maybe two. All of them wirework laden. SPL had good solid, quality fights in them. Honestly though, we don't come into a Donnie Yen movie wanting a good story or anything like that...we just want to see the man kick some ass. Story and everything else is just a plus. SPL has at least a decent amount of drama in it. Dragon Tiger Gate is a little more *bleh* in that department.

From a story standpoint yes...from an action standpoint? Doesn't even compare. Like I said, you go into a Donnie yen movie for Donnie, not really for the story.

Ooo, I forgot to add Sparrow. That one looks beautiful on Bluray. Especially the last scene with the umbrellas.

Well that's your own opinion that SPL is better.
But I say SPL lacks lots of fight scenes.
Dragon Tiger Cage really impressed me, especially Turbo's intro!

If you are to compare SPL, it'll have to be compared to Flashpoint, and Flashpoint is better than SPL.

I agree that Flash Point is better than SPL. I still like SPL more than DTG though. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, I just really liked SPL more. DTG was more flash and less substance. SPL's fights were so delicately detailed that it was almost scientific how it was all put together. Like I said, I don't dislike DTG...I loved the camerawork in the restaurant fight. It was pretty amazing. That was my favorite scene in the whole film. That and the beginning like you said. SPL takes the cake though.

I was really surprised by Flash Point. The reviews I read painted the film as a pretty mediocre action/martial arts movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth importing.

I have the German version put out by Splendid. It is unfortunately region B and has no English subtitles. However the picture is beautiful. Audio is dts HD HR in German or original Korean. You could buy it from Amazon.de.
