Default Blocking internet on Smart TV

I've tried to block internet explorer on my Samsung Smart TV. They let you block websites but that's it, and can easily be reset. I want to block it entirely, with either a passcode that can't be reset, or deleting it. is that possible, or are there any smart TVS out there with this feature?

I don't have a smart tv, but it seems like the internet feature is integrated into the TV, (which is the purpose of a smart tv) and it can't be removed. The only option that you may be able to block the internet service completely, is to delete the router key code from the TV setup menu, then you will not be able to access the internet or no other pre-installed apps at all. I don't know why you want to block internet explorer, but you will be defeating the purpose of having a smart tv.

Not sure why you want to do this but if you are tech savvy and have a decent firewall then you could set up rules and control it there. But as I write this I realize that if you were tech savvy then you would most likely not be asking this question. In short you would use DHCP reservations to assign a static IP to your TV and then set up a rule to block all traffic from this address to the outside. Then add rules before this block all rule to allow whatever you want to allow like Netflix for example.

You can't just disconnect from/sign out of the internet? Or is that something smart TVs don't allow? (Forgive the ignorance, my TV is 8 years old and my only "smart" device is the blu-ray player.)

My feeling is they wants to basically keep it from updating their firmware.

If this is the reason, then nothing should prevent the firmware from updating, and the internet must always be accessible, to allow the firmware to update continually, ensuring that the TV is operating properly.

Get the MAC address, then disable/lock-out this in the router.
Internet explorer is an "app" in TV. Now I don't have or own any Samsung TV, but I imagine this "should" have a function to be turned off or deleted.
Again, I have the same ? as mentioned above, if you want to limit internet access on the TV, why buy a Smart TV? If the concern is truly "kids" using the browser, parental controls affect apps too, including the browser. Or again, limit "questionable" sites on the router. If internet is completely shut off from Smart TV you will get no : Firmware, software, App updates. Quite a bit to shut-out from a Smart TV.

Depending on your model you should be at least be able to lock Apps, press TOOLS or hold SELECT until the side-bar opens and you can select lock and add a 4-digit pass.

But if you don't want to have your TV use your internet connect, reset the network connections or unplug the Ethernet cable.

I will try this. I'm trying to restrict porn access in the household.

If this is the case, then all you need to do is install a good filter to block all pornographic websites and other adult content. Besides, if R-Rated movies that depicts explicit, simulated sexual acts and show full body nudity are allowed to be viewed in your household, then basically there isn't any difference. Sex is sex whether if it's simulated from a Hollywood movie or real.
