Yeah i always wondered that. What's the difference anyway? With the HBP we got a 2 disc version, does the Ultimate have 3?

Perhaps Warner in the UK didn't feel like ripping off its customers so soon after they bought the previous ones.

Every year they release 4 boxset deal, a 5 boxset deal, a 6 boxset deal... Now they are remastering the origionals as individual movies. Its on the brink of being totally ridiculous. If they wait until they are all done, i'm sure a 7 set will eventually come out.

Default Ultimate editions of Harry Potter movies

Hi there, well all of the Ultimate editions of Harry Potter movies are 2 disc editions, repackaged to coincide with the upcoming new releases. ie. from Half Blood Prince onwards. They include various commentaries from the stars, directors, producers etc along with clips that were edited from the movies. Some of these were included on the original discs but these were aimed at the far east market not europe or usa, although obviously the americans decided to market them as well to cash in as usual. I have all on bluray and when the re-issue comes out next year no doubt there will be changes to the ones I own.

Of course. I wasn't going to buy this but since the UEs have been MIA for a year now, I thought WTH it's 3 quid each for 6 good to great movies and I am a Potter fan anyway.

I obviously know that there will be an Ultimate set down the road once the one next July releases, but for such a cheap price I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get most of my $ back. Maybe Warner will be nice and have an upgrade program too.

I am hoping that they release both movies in 1 disc for the final set though. But, four hours long makes it seem impossible. Maybe they can make a higher capacity disc by next December. lol

You make a good point about the final films been on one disc, I guess how they're cut together whether they go seamlessly together or viewers won't mind the break in story, is there going to have some sort of climax or cliffhanger to part one (I haven't read the book yet) or will it just end like The Golden Compass? What's the longest film out on blu-ray? Return of the King is 240mins in it's EE I wonder if that will fit on one disc, hopefully it will and not suffer too much in the AV department.

Same question as why "Blade Runner 5-Disc Collector's Edition" or "The Matrix Ultimate Collection" was never released over here... No one will ever know.

I never read TGC but apparently it was not a real ending there?

I think it should be like that film except I'm not sure if it'll be a safe or grim note as a cliffhanger.

I think they need to step up their development so that they can get these long-ass films onto one disc, I guess it's not a real priority since no movie in the cinema goes over 3 hours, much less 3:30 hours. I would really like to see Deathly Hallows without a break though.

Also, now that you mention ROTK:EE that is another huge problem. I quickly switched discs back when watching the DVD but no break would have been better.

No idea what's meant to be different between the Matrix sets -- I just compared my list of the UK R2 to the one at DVDcompare and couldn't spot anything, bar perhaps a bonus audio commentary on disc 10.

As for Pirates... seems World's End is identical, but Curse of the Black Pearl is missing the 3 commentary tracks, and Dead Man's Chest is missing the audio commentary and 5 featurettes (which are also missing from the US BD -- they're on the Scandinavian one).
