Default Harry Potter Re-Release?????

I see amazon has new "Ultimate Editions" of Harry Potter 1 and 2 up for pre-order. Does anybody know if there is anything significantly different about these compared to the original releases, other than the coverart?

Nice Deal! I got mine at Circuit City just before they closed their doors for $12 a piece. I'm happy with mine too, I was just curious. I wonder why its just the first two?

I looked at the pics at Amazon, and maybe they might have a few more extras or maybe a digital copy or something like that? There's not much to go on since there isnt much of a description, I just now I'm happy w/ the one's I got in my Blu library!

It's a place holder. Producer of the HP films confirmed there would be an "ultimate edition" DVD box set when the serires was complete. I wouldn't put much thought or energy into it yet.

I'd only be interested if they included extended scenes (ala Lord of the Rings) otherwise I'm satisfied with the school trunk I bought a few years back.

Agreed. Prices like that are becoming more rare on Amazon nowadays.

I don't know about you guys, but I hate it when studios take advantage re-releasing titles (The special edition, the super edition, the never before seen edition). they need to stop doing that, and just release a whole edition once.

They are seriously putting a dent in my wallet. I just can't resist.

the only real improvement to be made on 1-5 is the PQ on #1. if that was done, i'd consider snagging a retransfer of #1.

Agreed....the first 2 films are a little on the soft side but I always assumed they were shot that way. But if these are new transfers I'd maybe consider them

Agreed.

I only paid $10 each for mine, but I would probably purchase for new transfers.

Funny, my gf and I are watching the whole series before the new one comes out. What I noticed the most about the first 2 (actually part 1 moreso) is how bad the nighttime scenes look, the beginning of Sorcerer's Stone looks sooooooo bad, For a moment I thought I was watching upcoverted RADVD (regular ass DVD)

Thankfully there are moments in the first 2 that look amazing, just not consistent at all, and the darker scenes uniformly look terrible.

Yeah I remember reading a DVD review when the first movie had just came out on DVD about how grainy the opening night scene was and the reason for that is how it was filmed. Starting with the third film (with a fresh director) the films took on a different style and the picture (cinematography) has vastly improved.
