Why are they going with standard P-ATA rather than S-ATA.
With the Changes in DVD-RW and HDD technology why waste money on a P-ATA Blu-ray Drive when S-ATA is clearly better.

my guess is that the new drives will have s-ata. but that the first gen are using p ata because they didn't want to have to engineer something else and they wanted as many people as possible to be able to use the drive.

Hi, just wondering what the advantages of SATA optical drives are, over PATA ones? I understand that the hdd do have speed increase (not too significant as I've read), but it seems optical drives are already at its speed limit (eg, 16x DVD, 50x+ CD).

I'm sorry to be so lazy and not google it out myself.

its about data transfer speeds not the write speeds as the write speeds are calculated differently.
