It has been over one year since this movie released in Telugu (Ghatikudu) and we still don't even have the DVD. (Blu-ray is out of the question)

Once again the Telugu language has been ignored by the Tamil rights holders.
I wont buy this anyways ... as I don't buy anything that takes longer than 1 year to release.

Similar issue to occur in future: https://forum.blu-ray.com/india/1486...sh-list-6.html
I don't want to miss Robot on Telugu Blu-ray.

I don't know why the Tamil movies are released in Telugu "at such a large scale" if they don't really care about Telugu much , ofcourse other than the money they get from the Telugu theaters

They are using the Telugu audience as a protection to their investment by simply dubbing for a few lakhs.

It's strange though, since a lot of dubbed movies also get released on DVD... like Veedokkade, Surya s/o Krishnan... It cud also mean that no one has bought the DVD rights

lol....ya, at least we are luck to have the Telugu DVDs for the above mentioned movies.

Also, Veedokkade has a Tamil Blu-ray ... but obviously we can't hope for a Telugu Blu-ray.

Its so easy to do Blu-rays for dubbed movies as the video processing is already done and they just need to worry about the audio.

But still they've got to look at the business of the blu ray... I mean who would buy a Blu Ray of a tamil dubbed movie... I know there are people, but very few compared to blu rays like Magadheera and Leader...

Aadhavan/Ghatikudu is also a flop movie, so if they made a Blu Ray, it wudnt sell at all... Ayngaran does make Blu Rays of films people are curious about... I mean everybody watches Surya's movie in Tamil Nadu... but will everybody buy the blu ray of Ghatikudu... veryyy few people... It wudve been awesome though, if Ayngaran releases blu rays with 2 languages in it ...

Ya, exactly .... I think Ayngaran should release Blu-rays with both Tamil and Telugu versions in it.

The only movie Ayngaran released like that with Telugu and Tamil in one Blu-ray, is Unnaippol Oruuan

What the Blu-ray manufacturer (in this case, Ayngaran) should do is add a Telugu soundtrack...95% of American blurays have a English, Spanish, and French audio options...If Ayngaran looks into this matter in depth, they could get a lot of business from Telugu customers because most of Ayngaran's films dubbed into Telugu are big hits..This is why Ayngaran is so STUPID!! They are so bad at making decisions (they released s*** films like Villu, Kuruvi, Aadhavan on bluray) and they even lost Endhiran rights to Sun Pictures cuz they were financially unstable..Maybe if they made smarter choices, they coulda be releasing Endhiran/Robo bluray instead of Sun Pictures

They also cut the movies you know... The movie Kandhasamy was dubbed into Mallanna and all the comedy scenes were cut out of the movie...

So editing is a lot of work!

Lemme check with Sunny why the option of adding a Telugu soundtrack was not considered. Will keep you guys posted once I hear back from him.

but there are some scenes which are filmed for telugu dub...like intro titles, and some scenes.....take for example anniyan in that the letter which raman gets is tamil in tamil movie and it telugu in telugu movie....similarly there are few shots which are filmed again....so i think its difficult to add two audio tracks and also intro and some scenes are edited in dubbed version......

There will be some editing ofcourse ... but if a ripper of some site, can rip a Tamil Blu-ray with adding Telugu Audio for "free". I don't think it's a complicated task for Ayngaran professionals to handle, as they will get paid for what they do and will also make money as the Blu-rays are sold.

Big Telugu DVD/Blu-ray retailers like Bhavani, Bollywood Blu-ray, njmtv, KAD and many others will definitely buy the Blu-rays.

Work = Money

Similar to what I mentioned above, its not hard to edit the few scenes as they can easily get hold of a Telugu source.
Even if they miss some small video edits, I am cool with it as I am at least getting to watch it on Blu-ray (who knows if I will even have a Telugu DVD for that movie, or how bad the quality will be)

Nope - they are on the same Disc - right at the start menu - there are options/buttons labeled "Tamil" and "Telugu" on either side of the screen.

So, they basically squeezed both Tamil and Telugu into one physical BD50.

Well said .... Ayngaran is missing out on easy money.

Yeah, It is actually harder for them to do this task(editing) for Unnaippol Oruuan because the Telugu version had a different actor. So, they basically had to do the Blu-ray for a major portion of the movie.

But in general, they just have to edit 5% of the Tamil movie video and add Telugu audio.

The reason why Ayngaran don't include Telugu tracks on Tamil blu-ray is due to copyright issues. Sometimes they hold the rights for only the Tamil language version. To obtain the Telugu language version they have to pay for the full film rights (again). Therefore, it makes no business sense to invest into a market where only a max 3000 units Telugu blu-ray are sold (worldwide). The demand for Telugu blu-rays are not as high as Tamil or Hindi titles.

Ayngaran aren't stupid...just cautious.
