Exclamation Standalone bd player worth it?

I currently have a ps3 acting as my bd player. is it worth it for me to invest in a standalone bd player or continue with my ps3?

I have the opposite question. I have a stand-alone player and am interested in getting a ps3 (I went to BB today with the intention of getting one--but backed out after seeing an increased HD DVD presence). I'm not a big game player--they tend to bore me after a while. But I do have an office with HDTV but no player.

Does the PS3 noise or heat output bother you in any way?
If not, no IMO.
Now if you need another blu player in another room, its a no brainer.

Now for the office, the vertical placement that the PS3 offers might be beneficial if space is tight.

OK--here's an answer. If your ps3 works, you're satisfied with its performance, and there's no issue with the remote (I read there might be some lack of functionality--but can't really speak to it) and you're not likely to be playing a game while watching a movie, then you should consider sticking with what you have. In time, prices will come down, there will be more players at various price points and just maybe HD will be more settled--then you might re-consider. Just one opinion.

I've only notice noise from my PS3 when the room silent, and I've only noticed heat coming off of it when I put my hand near it. Honestly the PS3 is the best piece of equipment I've ever owned. I love it. The DVD player feature of the PS2 was pretty shitty, but the BD player of III is flat out AWESOME. I love the damned thing. I honestly cannot think of a reason to get a standalone in addition, or even instead.

is your setup in a basement or a large room cuz that could make a huge difference. mine is in a relatively large bedroom with one window and it gets really hot even with the ac on
