The series features an ensemble cast including Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean, Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Lara Flynn Boyle, Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Richard Beymer, Ray Wise, Peggy Lipton and Warren Frost. Many of the TV series cast members reprise their roles in the film and are joined by others including Kiefer Sutherland, David Bowie, Chris Isaak and Harry Dean Stanton.
EXCL: Ray Wise Confirms “TWIN PEAKS” Lynch-directed Blu-ray Promo
Quote:
It’s been 25 years (story-wise) since the world followed Agent Dale Cooper and his investigations into the surreal and horrifying town of TWIN PEAKS, breaking new ground in television and amassing a huge audience and enduring cult fanbase. Now, after a casting call for a TWIN PEAKS promo, purportedly directed by series co-creator David Lynch himself, rumors began to swell that we would see, however briefly, more of the PEAKS universe for the show’s upcoming Blu-ray release. This rumor was especially titillating as it would coincide with Laura Palmer’s posthumous sentiments to Agent Cooper and give the first new PEAKS to the generations that have discovered it in the years since it’s cancellation.
In a recent chat with Ray Wise for the home video release of BIG ASS SPIDER!, the actor who famously played Laura’s father Leland confirmed to FANGORIA that the promo has indeed been shot with Lynch behind the camera, and that there will in fact be a Blu-ray set for the series created by Lynch and Mark Frost!
“Yeah, we [shot the promo for the Blu-ray] two days ago,” Wise tells Fango. “It’s been done. I don’t know if I was supposed to leak that to anybody, but yeah, we did it and I’m not at liberty to say what was done. I can say that it’s going to be a big surprise.”
Finally, while we’re talking CBS… we’ve had additional confirmation that the company is working to being more catalog TV series to Blu-ray, following the success of Star Trek: The Original Series and The Next Generation, including David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. More on that in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned.
Speaking of which, work on Twin Peaks: The Complete Series on Blu-ray is also well under way at CBS, with a release expected in time for the end of the year or early next. Multiple sources tell us that a deal has been made to allow the inclusion of David Lynch’s Fire Walk with Me film in the package, so fan will at long last be treated to a truly complete set.
