Slipcovers are the cardboard slips that studios use to put OVER a dvd or blu-ray case. I think you are confusing the artwork or cover art used for the case with the term slipcover. The "artwork" or "cover art" is what is used underneath the plastic of the case. I picked up a few used blu's before, and they will often use a dvd case with the blu-ray artwork in it. All I had to do was pick up a spare blu-ray case and transfer the artwork from the dvd case to the blu one, and I had a nice blu-ray movie to add to my collection that looked like it did when it was first released. If they actually used blu-ray slipcovers (i.e. thick card stock as opposed to paper thin cover art) in the dvd case for the artwork, then you will have problems trying to use it in a blu-ray case. I have never seen a rental business cut up a slipcover, however, to use it inside a dvd for cover art.
If you mean the cover art or artwork (i.e. paper thin and not cardboard like slipcover material), then all you have to do is open up the case beyond what you would normally do, like crack it open and literally open it past the point of it being flat. This will cause the plastic that holds the artwork to expand. You should be able to take out the artwork very easily then. |

You have definitely mixed up 'slip covers' and 'cover art'. Someone mentioned Blockbuster...I've bought those before. There is a blank DVD-size cover art, with the BD cover art glued on, and you just peel the BD one off and it should easily slide in to a regular BD case.

As cover art, just pull out from the Hollywood video DVD case and buy some BD case and put inside. ** Seriously if this is what you mean, are you sure you can't pull out the cover art?! |
