Question If all BD titles were Region Free would it...

make a difference. As a European i try and order as much of my BDs from Amazon.com. With some titles available for months before the Region B releases it could help in improving the numbers in the US. Unless they drop the ball in the Region B and Japan they should have those areas in the bag.

Maybe, but i think it would depend on the amount of sites and stores willing to ship internationally. Would be nice though.

Well yes it'd make a difference.. it'd mean more chance of me being even more skint every month.. It's bad enough having the great releases available in the UK and the current region free ones available from the US but region free would be awesome.. just don't go pipe dreaming for too long.. some of Blu-rays biggest hitters wanted ney DEMANDED Region coding from Sonys little blu-disks..

big difference.
getting titles and packs earlier means more of a want to switch to blu ray. wouldnt you want the media that releases months before the competition??

but if it region free, we wouldn't have hairspray/rush hours 3 for limited time exclusivity, won't we?

Personally does not matter for me, as I own Region A and B player. Region C is not needed when you have A and B

it works both ways though. UK HDDVD sales are pretty poor as its cheaper to buy from the USA, so this deflates our domestic sales figures.

IMHO having some titles locked and some region free is the best route to keeping global sales figures balanced. look how HDDVD is getting cained in europe, then think how many sales they have lost to the North American market. Region free is not all sugar coated.. and in some regions could be hddvds downfall.

Whenever I buy a Blu-ray from the states it comes with three security tags on the outside plus one or two on the inside, and I always rip/warp the clear plastic sleeve and make sticky marks on it that I can't get rid of while trying to peal off the stickers.

I guess they must have a lot of people running off with stuff from the Amazon warehouse </sarcastic>

When I buy a Blu-ray from a store here in the UK, there's one security tag on the outside (the right edge - where it's easiest to remove without damaging the case) and that's it.

I think buying movies through Amazon.com would definitely help Blu-ray's cause here in the U.S.
