Hand drawn animation always looks amazing on Blu-ray on the basis that it looks awful on DVD (compression artifacts ruin the colors, lines are fuzzy or pixelated, distant details are invisible to the eye).
This movie is amazing, why don't you have it yet. ![]() My only complaint is the black border around the picture. Sony did it so people with overscan would see the full picture. Too bad they used the same transfer for Blu-ray. Hi-Def does not need to cater to overscanning TVs. |

sony should have been smart enough to crop the overscan for the blu release. |

can't say i was super impressed with the quality of the video (it was a bit soft for my taste) but the audio did thrill me. it's a great movie though, so i say go for it.

the soft look was the directors original intention. and it looks gorgeous, give the film a surface like quality, which is not as evident on dvd.

An interesting fact that might slightly change one's perceptions of the film: In Japan, "paprika" (or "papurika") actually refers to bell peppers. I believe this is also common in parts of Europe, where the term likely originated.
