Default I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)

Uh, so I just saw this pop up on my "Best Blu-ray Deals" thing:

I Spit On Your Grave 2

I didn't see any threads for it, but I am kind of intrigued. I never saw the first one (nor the original) because I am too scared they will traumatize me because of the women being brutalized, but did the new one have an opening for a sequel?

The director of the first film is doing this sequel.

Anyone know anything about this? Just another direct-to-DVD crapfest?

Official trailer:

That cover probably took 3 minutes to make in photoshop. Whoever got paid for that is lucky.

I didn't think it was that bad. It has the same style as the poster for the first one, doesn't it?

Though, I never paid attention to what she was holding.. I thought it was a flashlight. But under closer inspection, it looks like it is a light saber getting powered up.

Tasers don't look like that, do they?

The better question is, why is she holding it behind her? And why is it on? Girl is going to hurt herself.

The director of the first film is doing this sequel.
I saw the original film once when I was younger, and was unsettled to the extent that I felt no need ever to see it a second time.

The twisted curious side of me that has a propensity to slow down when I'm driving by car accidents led me to rent the remake a couple of years ago, and I had the exact same reaction to it. I do think that the remake did what it did really well, though, and that it was just as effectively disturbing as the original film.

Not to give anything away with spoilers about the earlier film, but I am inclined to think that this sequel features an entirely different cast in an entirely different situation.

There is an official trailer. I guess it premiered only a little over a week ago:

I updated the OP with the trailer.

Also, this was strange. I guess there was an unauthorized sequel to the 1978 original:

Savage Vengeance

Very strange.

I do like the original film and the remake (to the extent that they can be "liked"), so I am naturally intrigued by this. Will probably rent it though.

If you could take the murder scenes from the 2010 remake and put them into the original 1978 version but keep everything else the same I think that would make for a much better movie. The first one is very effective and atmospheric for the entire first half but once the revenge starts the movie is so damn hokey that its impossible to suspend disbelief and your taken right out of the movie and all the revenge lacks any impact (aside from the bathtub scene but even that is marred by an unconvincing reaction by the guy, still effective though). The remake is like the total opposite, the revenge is the only part that I liked, I thought the rape part was disturbing but the guys were pretty pathetic, when that guy kept saying "show me your teeth show horse" it started to piss me off, not because it was effective or anything but because it was such a cheesey line to say even once let alone like 10 times, people don't talk that way. Another thing was Sarah Butler might just be the most unlikable ***** character in history and when you are supposed to sympathize and feel bad for a character its best to make them someone you want to root for, she came off like a snobby little entitled ***** compared to Camille keaton. Camille Keaton in the original is probably like one of the hottest looking women ever and she also comes off and like a very nice likable person so you root for her, sarah butler just is off putting.

the murder scenes were way too orchestrated and absurd in the remake. totally killed the "realism" of the story. The original was fantastic. its a tolerable remake but it lost all of the pain and terror of the original. As stated the new girl simply was not very likable or sympathetic either.

If this wasn't done by the same director as the remake i'd be passing so i'm definitely interested.

I like the remake. So I will check this out.
The girl in the original is cuter than in the remake but the remake is better and more violent IMO.

Like the sorta-sequel from the late 90s.

I'll Kill You... I'll Bury you...
I'LL SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, TOO!
