Breaking news:
Quote:
SANTA MONICA, CA (August 2, 2016) – Lionsgate is exhuming classic horror films with a red carpet rollout this fall for the limited edition Vestron Video Collector’s Series. Hours of materials have been assembled for the Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-ray™ releases, starting with six horror cult classics! Taste the fear and the flesh, in shocking high definition for the first time, as teenagers meet their untimely demise at the hands of cannibals, killer robots, horror icons, sewer-dwelling monsters, and an army of the undead!

Vestron Video has been a leader in providing the most unique and wide-ranging selection of films. Lionsgate honors the spirit of Vestron Video by presenting the Vestron Video Collector’s Series — a line of classic genre films newly remastered and with a wealth of supplementary features. II: Bud the CHUD, these re-releases are for the collector and horror fan alike and will be available for a limited amount of time.

All I remember about this is it starred the guy who was supposed to be the cool dude in the smart class in the 80's sitcom, Head of the Class: Brian Robbins. He became a director of movies such as Good Burger, Varsity Blues, Norbit and Meet Dave.

I'm assuming Cutting Class will be coming shortly after since they have that ready to go as well.

This is the only Vestron release I have never seen and know little about. Will definitely be reading up and watching some trailers.

Do they? If so, it better be uncut, unlike the lousy DVD.

Ha ha. That's the first thing I ever think of when someone mentions C.H.U.D. (well that and The Simpsons when Homer mentions he visited New York)

Easily the least interesting of this initial batch of Vestron releases, IMO. This is the one i'm sure would be better off bought for a discounted price.

Everything else in the line, however, looks to be worth every hard earned dime and penny.

You would think something like Slaughter High would be a bigger seller (than CHUD II)--I wonder why LG would hold off on it.

There's no HD-master for SH unlike Chud 2 to my knowledge =) They're using what they have.

Yeah, that's why I'm kind of worried about Slaughter High.

Which other older LG titles have HD masters? I know Warlock, any others?

This sequel sucks, Arrow needs to release the original.

Looks like: Parents, The Gate, Lair of the White Worm, The Dentist, Maximum Overdrive, Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat, Paperhouse, and Ghoulies III are all available in HD on Amazon Video. So that's a start.

This is amazing news. I always loved this film. It's that perfect mix of comedy, horror and stupid that only the 80ies were able to pull of this way and make it work.

Actually for a few of these, they're making new masters - so SLAUGHTER HIGH isn't too much of a stretch.
