My guess is that you have it set to bitstream and the PS3 is decoding everything before it gets to your receiver, therefore it would not say TrueHD or MasterHD on the receiver.

Actually i have the ps3 dvd upscaler set to OFF, i have the ps3 scaler for the ps1/p22 games set to on/smooth/full screen, i have it set to PCM for sound as well, no bitstream. Now when i go to the reciever, it doesn't say anything there about a choice for dobly true hd or master hd and when i put the blu ray in with that, u still don't see it. I paid alot of money for this so i'm really trying to get this maxed out. What do u think can be the case now if u don't mind me asking? OH thanks for showing me how to do the quote..i did exactly what u said

The only way for the onkyo to decode TrueHD and DTS HDMA is with a player that can send it in bit stream but the PS3 can't at this time, the PS3 can decode the TrueHD it self and then send it in LPCM to the amp so you would have the set the PS3 to LPCM to hear that but for everything else put it in bit stream so the onkyo decodes it and not the PS3 which is not as good

Also I let the Amp up sample to 1080p for my DVDs because it's better than the PS3 for that too

Hi thanks for answering kind sir. U say u turn off the dvd upscaler for the ps3 right for the dvd's so it upscales through the ONkyo. Ok so i know that is for the DVD's but there is another side to this. THe ps3 has another upscaler which is for the ps1/ps2 games to upscale those games and it has a smooth on or off feature for it. Do u leave that one to upscale with the ps3 by leaving that on or do u turn that one off as well to let the onkyo upscale the ps1/ps2 games? I turned off the ps3's dvd upscaler but wasn't sure about the ps1/ps2 upscaler. I know this is a tough question.

Also, u said to put the ps3 to bitstream on everything right? If i do that, what Setting do i put the ONkyo 875 on? That is my biggest dilema as i don't know what setting to leave that onkyo on to get that nice swift surround sound action happening for the dvd's and blurays.

Thanks
