I found the stories in the original film to be very weak (well, the first two, anyway). It's quite possibly the most overrated horror flick I've seen. Needless to say I won't be sucked in by the hype again. Will wait for a sale on this one.

Well, it was a made-for-tv in 1975, so it had to be somewhat tame. I think Trilogy of Terror II is just ok. The one saving grace is that there is a sequel to the iconic Zuni fetish story featured in the first one.

Trilogy II includes a remake of a segment from Dan Curtis' 1977 made-for-tv horror anthology "Dead of Night". The story is called "Bobby" and the original stars Joan Hackett and Lee Montgomery (Burnt Offerings). The original version is far superior to the remade version found on Trilogy of Terror II. Like Trilogy 1 & 2, the other stories in the anthology fall a bit flat, but "Bobby" makes it worthwhile. Unfortunately Dead of Night is only currently available on dvd at this time.

The second one is better, at least IMO and many others it is.
Another custom dvd to retire which I never thought would get a real release (although I do see something about a dvd in 2015?), sweet! Now someone bring on Invisible Maniac and let's retire the whole freaking shelf!

If you didn't like the first one, definitely bypass the second. It's not nearly as good and has basically been forgotten completely. It took me a second to remember it when I saw the subject header lol

It’s a crying shame that both Dead of Night films are not on Blu-ray in North America. Anyone know what’s holding them up?

Happy to see this one getting a release as well. Always liked it a bit more than the original.

Was gonna say rights issues, but I was thinking about the long OOP 1999 Dead of Night (aka Lighthouse). Opps.

Same with me, didn't know there was a second. Just watched the first set a few months ago and enjoyed it a lot.

Ugh why couldn't this release in August. I already have over $100 in pre-orders for both September and October but basically nothing in August since the Oldboy set was moved. I want this but given what I've already got pre-ordered I need to hold off to see if this gets a fantastic price cut, otherwise I'll have to pick it up in later October or possibly November. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time though so I'm happy to see it's finally getting a release.

I thought this was pushed back from 10/1 to 10/22? Diabolik just got it in stock and available to order.

Just watched my copy. Overall it's a really good but bizarre transfer. Apparently not all of the film elements were found so there are times where they had to use the best available SD inserts throughout the film that can be jarring (mainly during the first story) but the rest of it looks great. There are some annoying "skips" during the last story though. This is my first time seeing the film so I don't know if these have appeared on the dvd too, source related or mastering related.

The film is great! I loved it and thought it was far superior to the really good original. Every story was solid with good performances. Even if you aren't a fan of the original I would say odds are pretty good you will enjoy this one.

I thought this was superior to the original as well. All 3 stories are great.
