You're absolutely right but alas, I think Chadwick's efforts were wasted on a middling screenplay....kinda like Jamie Foxx in "Ray". There are no two other actors I wish could do a do-over with better material. For any one keeping score at home, I thought Get on Up was better than Ray.

I'm the opposite, I loved Ray and thought Get On Up was average, it was disjointed. Ray really showed the greatness of Ray Charles and Jamie did a great job.

This should have been in my collection a long time ago but slacked on it and never got it. Now it's selling out everywhere and going higher than what it usually goes for.

Get On Up was a good movie, and Chadwick gave a superb performance of his portrayal of the late: James Brown. If you haven't seen the movie I suggest you to rent it, if you're not able to find and buy it on blu-ray. Not ony Get On Up but all of his movies are selling out like hotcakes, especially Black Panther, and fortunately I already have both of them long before his demise.

I loved this movie, but I'm also kind of a hardcore James Brown fan. I don't know how much it would appeal to non-fans. I'm glad it addressed some of the domestic abuse stuff, because it's necessary, but at the same time I kinda hate music biopics for the reason that I'm generally better off just listening to the records and not dwelling on whether the subject was a bad person or not. I thought Chadwick Boseman's performance was totally remarkable but it was at least a little bit crippled at the get-go by that horrible old-age make-up they used in the opening scene. Once it got going I was all in and he was magnetic during the Paris concert footage.

Somehow have not seen this before. Went ahead and grabbed pre-owned copy from Bull moose website for $7.97 + $3.99 shipping. eBay prices are expectedly ridiculous on this and lowest otherwise looks to be around d $18-$20 Walmart/Best Buy. Rip Chadwick Boseman. Such a talented actor gone too soon.

One of the titles I found for cheap at 7-11. I passed on it the first time and was surprised to find it still there after a few months.
