Default Stacking two storage towers together. Idiot phsyics inside!

Okay,

Please stop me now if my current thinking demands a slap to the back of the head.
In my quest to find an additional storage tower has led me to contemplate buying the same tower and stacking it on top of one another.

https://images2.static-bluray.com/ht...01608_full.jpg

I will use anchors to the wall and maybe screw a flat metal brace on the back to provide structural integrity.

The unit cost only $39 bucks from Walmart and will ship to store for free. Definitely a money saver and It will allow me to keep the current shelf where it is. Maximize space and savings.

What do you think? Will it work?
Its just my lady and I. No kids or pets btw.
Thanks for any advice.

I think it'll look cool, I've thought about doing something similar myself. I just don't know if you'll be able to reach the top shelves without a ladder other than that - go for it

It should work. How many does a single unit hold? From the picture it also looks like the top is bowing in the middle.

The top isn't bowing ( it's curved like the bottom ), but the 4 shelves appear to have a slight bow.
I say give it a try, $39 wouldn't be much of a loss, if it didn't work.

Well if it falls it will be like 2012 .... disaster Mine is also from walaland but the separator in the middle makes it less stress in the shelves , but yes it's more expensive .

I also like this model but it's 39.99 each maybe a bit less in the US .

Might be a good idea to secure at least the top of the shelf to the wall (or top and bottom to carry some of the weight)... It's not really deep so I would be a bit worried about it tilting over someone (that may be the reason why the bottom of the shelf is larger... but if you stack it it doesn't sit on anything).

Thanks for pointing that out Zippo

There is an Ikea in West Sacramento, not sure how far from you it actually is. See if they Besta shelves. $75 should take care of your needs for a while ($60 for unit and $15 for 3 extra shelves.

That's my entire collection, without the stuff on the top shelf I have 6 shelves of space left.

If the bottom of your shelf unit is deeper than the top it will probably look pretty stupid stacking another on top. If you are still bound and determined to do it pick up some L brackets for the top and bottom shelves and mount them to studs. Get the largest L brackets that you can fit under the bottom shelf. It will hide behind the original unit perfectly and use some wood screws to attach it to the new unit. You might want to be careful since I am sure that stuff is mdf and that has a tendency to crumble. The top L brackets can be fairly small. I would always just recommend building your own unit though.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I was able to get the unit for 21 bucks off amazon(after credit), so the cheapass in me went for it. Not much of a loss if it doesnt work out/look stupid.
