Okay,
Please stop me now if my current thinking demands a slap to the back of the head. ![]() In my quest to find an additional storage tower has led me to contemplate buying the same tower and stacking it on top of one another. https://images2.static-bluray.com/ht...01608_full.jpg I will use anchors to the wall and maybe screw a flat metal brace on the back to provide structural integrity. The unit cost only $39 bucks from Walmart and will ship to store for free. Definitely a money saver and It will allow me to keep the current shelf where it is. Maximize space and savings. What do you think? Will it work? Its just my lady and I. No kids or pets btw. Thanks for any advice. Last edited by Ace_BB6; 02-17-2012 at 06:49 AM. |

![]() I say give it a try, $39 wouldn't be much of a loss, if it didn't work. 101614.jpg |

Might be a good idea to secure at least the top of the shelf to the wall (or top and bottom to carry some of the weight)... It's not really deep so I would be a bit worried about it tilting over someone (that may be the reason why the bottom of the shelf is larger... but if you stack it it doesn't sit on anything).

Thanks for pointing that out Zippo
![]() There is an Ikea in West Sacramento, not sure how far from you it actually is. See if they Besta shelves. $75 should take care of your needs for a while ($60 for unit and $15 for 3 extra shelves. That's my entire collection, without the stuff on the top shelf I have 6 shelves of space left. ![]() Bill |

If the bottom of your shelf unit is deeper than the top it will probably look pretty stupid stacking another on top. If you are still bound and determined to do it pick up some L brackets for the top and bottom shelves and mount them to studs. Get the largest L brackets that you can fit under the bottom shelf. It will hide behind the original unit perfectly and use some wood screws to attach it to the new unit. You might want to be careful since I am sure that stuff is mdf and that has a tendency to crumble. The top L brackets can be fairly small. I would always just recommend building your own unit though.
