Has anyone gotten any of these yet? Curious to see the quality of the encodes.

What's the history of this company? Is it the late Nick Redman's partner from Twilight Time?

I would like to know myself. I was considering picing up a Hawaii Twilight Time copy but the Hawaii Sandpiper is selling the same film for $50 less.

If it's $50 more the Twilight Time is clearly better...

Hawaii is down to $19.99 now. I hope Sandpiper isn't another Mill Creek with their crappy transfers.

I've speculated this at another place but I believe Sandpiper is a reformed Olive Films, as the placeholder covers use the same template and both worked with MGM on titles.

Interesting. Why would they rebrand? They already have a decent rep, so why start from scratch and with almost no fanfare. They didn't even announce anything and started releasing stuff.

As I stated in the "Salsa" thread, the only real info I could find that it's registered to someone in Virginia:

There's definitely a connection there. I don't know if it's someone who used to work with Olive Films, but the artwork, and the templates are very much like Olive's releases, and of course the MGM connection too. I'd be surprised if Olive as a whole re-branded to Sandpiper though.

Screw it. Actually just pre-ordered Posse from Bullmoose. Been wanting it awhile, but didn't want to pay the crazy prices it's going for. Lets see what happens.

Well, I got Posse in, and overall looks fine. Never owned the original release, so really can't compare, but it is an old master. Still, no real encode issues to speak of and they do have the updated MGM logo on it, so it looks legit.

Overall, looks like we have a new label that should be ok.

Thanks for the update, Duke. I hope we get some other out of prints and definitely some more new to blu-ray. $20 seems a bit steep for each title, but I'm ok with it if there are sales and new to blu-ray titles.

what an odd choice with The Cutting Edge 3. Guess they're just putting out whatever they can get. Under Fire is a good pick-up, surprised Kino didn't get that one. Still wondering if this label is some off-shoot of Olive Films, or someone that worked there. The cover art, and case templates have some similarities with their stock images.

And five of their eight releases so far have been previous TT releases.

Has anyone bought Hawaii from Sandpiper? If so, is it the same awful TT transfer. I knew that was cut when I bought it but what really annoyed me was that they took our the subtitles when the Hawaiians were speaking to each other.
