For quite some time I have been wondering how many copies of any given title do the Blu and HD manufacturers produce?
I know there are regional copies for certain markets, etc. But, for instance, does anyone know how many copies of Transformers is Paramount producing vs., say, Spider-Man 3 by Sony or the Spider-Man Trilogy box set? Or how many copies were *produced* of 300 for either format. I just wonder if these figures would give us a clue as to how many copies of a specific title the manufacturers/movie studios believe will sell over a given span of time. Sales are one thing, and likely the most important factor right now; but how many copies are being produced also might be interesting to determine and peruse. Just wondering.... -Greg |

sometimes it depends on the shelves they have some shelves that some best buy stores have are able to stack up like 8 copies of 1 title instead of putting it as spined like for instance i have 2 best buy stores where i live and 1 of them has the great shelves so they are able to make it look bigger but this newer best buy store has the spined because it has crappy shelves and i can barely even get the movie out of the shelf without hurting my hand plus its so crammed together that they couldnt make it look big even if they wanted to

My Best Buy in south florida expanded, as well, but they also expanded HD DVD to keep it even.

The Woodlawn, Maryland Best Buy has expanded the shelving dedicated to Blu-ray to 7 "sections" (each section is about 4 to 4 1/2 feet wide) but HD-DVD has only 4 sections. Blu-ray is getting their units facing front, but HD-DVD is getting the "show them the spines" treatment. Blu-ray also has a separate display unit amongst the HDTVs so it's really more like 8 to 4.

Just wait until the racks start filling up with the likes of Spider-Man, Die Hard, Simpsons, etc... and there's the lonely robot movie all alone on the othe side of the isle. hehe. Makes me grin!
