The Kevin Costner film American Flyers will be getting a Blu-ray release through Warner Archive on April 12th.

Brilliant news, I’ve wanted this for so long. Hell of the West will look brilliant in 1080p if done right. WBAC usually have decent PQ.

I might have to pick this up sometime in the future. I remember this probably just being a random film that I'd recorded off the television onto VHS. So watched it a few times back then. I probably havnt watched it since back at that time in the 80's either. I remember it being quite a good film.

I thought i'd have a watch of that trailer to refresh my memory abit, and then immediately realised I'm very familiar with that trailer aswell. That trailer must of been at the beginning of another actual VHS film of mine from back then. Can't remember what film though.

Amazon is "out of stock, we don't know if we'll be getting more" for this title now.

A really neat easter egg if you will for this title is when Kevin Costner is undergoing medical tests, they used the WOPR sound effects from Wargames for the medical computers.

Sounds like the picture and sound quality is decent. Shame there’s no extra features apart from the trailer but then again this sounds like a massive improvement on the dated dvd and as a fan of the film I’m just happy to have it on Blu-ray at last.

Exactly, Donald Peterman was an excellent cinematographer, even if the film tends towards the softer side, it is still quite vibrant and I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie again projected.

Received my Blu-ray of AF today! Now that was blooming quick all the way from America to the U.K and in perfect condition. Now that’s service. Amazon excelled. Checked it out and even though it’s a bit soft it’s a million miles better than the dvd and has retained the ‘filmic’ look.

The trailer looked ok too.
