Region 4 encoding - Blu-ray Forum

I live in the US and I would like to purchase a movie that has not been released here from overseas. The Blu-ray in question is encoded to region 4 and was wondering how if this would work - if even at all with my PS3.

There is no region 4 for blu ray discs they are either A,B or C
If it states region 4 then it is probably an SD DVD which is for Australia/New Zealand/ Central & South America.

If it is a blu ray disc from that region then it should be a region B which will not play in a US PS3

btw DVD Region 4 also includes Mexico which is in North America

Yes, Region 4 is also Central & South America which is Region A. Region 4 is solely a DVD thing and has nothing to do with Blu-ray. Only Region A, B and C exists on Blu-ray (or A and B to this date).

the in question title is Starship troopers and its an Australlian import. Just wondering if it is worth picking up an import versus wait to be released in the states.

Don't know anything about Starship Troopers in Australia but in UK it's region free:

Probably it's region free in Australia too like most discs there, otherwise it's a region B-title.

I think Starship Troopers will be released in USA mid-late Q1 2008.

I have brought Starship Troopers here in Sydney and it is ABC - I have lent it to a friend with a US PS3 and it plays fine.

IMHO PQ is great / AQ is great - but I haven't got a really expensive setup
