Default Can't wait for war to end - Transformers, Shrek, etc!

I just rented the Transformers DVD last night, and loved the movie. That movie was definitely designed for High Definition. I think Michael Bay should go with his first take on the war and wait on doing the next movie to put pressure on Paramount, because his new main belief that getting lower quality cheaper $200 HDDUD players is best of the consumers is short sighted. He quickly got brain washed by Paramounts top advisers for HDDUD, and forgot all essential points his friends told him at dinner about Blu-ray. So now he's OK with the minority of a small percentage of consumers getting to enjoy his movie in High Def...? Did they convince him that the lower priced DUD players would win them the war and consumers would jump to buy them because of his movie? Ain't happening! He should re-think with his own brain, the one he used when he first announced he wasn't doing the 2nd movie...and not the one the Paramount have washed clean of logic...

It's a shame, and not so much for me, because I'm not in the position yet for High Def., but for all you who are, it's not fair. Blu-ray going to win, we know this, all the signs are there, we can see it happening, but you have to wait...not fair to you guys! To all consumers, even those on the fence that may have taken the Blu-ray plunge if it weren't for Paramount. I think over 90% of people on the fence are there because they know Blu is going to win, but are sticking with DVD for now, so they are limited in the selection for High Def movies, especially ones like Transformers. Though I do think a large number of fence sitters will take the Blu plunge this Christmas season, when the Harry Potter movies are released, along with Spiderman 3, Pirates...At World's End, etc.

But man, wathcing Transformers last night just made me want to have a Blu copy of it so bad...not fair! Oh well, patience is a virtue...and I have to wait for a bit regardless, but for those who don't & if I were in your shoes, I would be pissed & have a hard time waiting for that one...it's so High Def! Such a great movie to watch, but almost painful to watch on DVD at this point, knowing I we all could be watching in High Def the way it was intended.

After watching it on DVD, I agree, you would not near fully enjoy it as much. But it is an awesome movie and when it does go blu you will be satified. Not having seen it, you're better off, because it would just tease the He11 out of you if you rented the DVD...you're better off to wait.

The only thing I don't like is that I know some stores that were neutral are going to use this movie to demo their High Def. Televisions and Projectors to try and sell them.

The sad thing about the Transformers HD-DVD is that it uses Dolby Digital-Plus and not True HD or DTS HDMA, because the format doesn't have enough capacity to have one of the better sound formats. Over at HiDef Digest the HD Dudders are arguing with each other about this, with some trying to say it doesn't matter because there isn't much difference in sound quality. Yeah right! That's why Dolby and DTS went to all this trouble to create the new formats- because it doesn't matter!
Paramount's switch is helping to prolong this battle a bit, and cause a crick in my neck, but I just can't see how HD DVD could possibly prevail with almost the whole hardware industry lining up behind Blu-Ray, especially the high-end manufacturers that the home theater installers stand behind. I believe it's only a matter of time that HD DVD will meet it's demise (and not as long as some predictions say)
