Default Best Stand Alone Blu Ray Player

Greeting to all! I'm new here to the forums and I'm in the market right now for a Blu Ray player. I've done some waiting for the newer gen models and would like to know which player is the best model. I've heard good things about the new Sony players which are about $400-500 and I've heard fairly good thing about the Panasonic players which range about the same price as the Sony. My current tv is a Toshiba projection HDTV which is capable of HDMI and for some reason only 1080i or 480p( I think 480p but I'm positive about 1080i). I may get a new HDTV sometime later because my current one is about 4-5 years old. I'm not interested in the PS3 or any gaming consoles so don't anyone recommend it. All I want is a nice Blu Ray player. I also have a new Bose surround system if that is needed for any info. So can anybody help me out? I would try electronic stores but the people I've talked to feed me b.s. and I know alot more about home electronics than the Best Buy fellas. If any can help me out on choosing an affordable Blu Ray player that works good, I would appreciate it very, very much. Thank you!

The Panasonic to me is the best choice, gathering from what I read - the Pioneers, while excellent, are also quite expensive.

Sony has their loading time problem, Samsung the firmware...the DMP-BD30 that comes out soon I would highly recommend. Although Im not getting rid of my 10AK anytime soon.

...although as an architect, they are aesthetically - plain. lol, what a minor problem.
