Default stand alone blu ray player with mkv support

Hello

I only know dune hdi players which play blu ray and also mkv + other high resolution files.
Do you maybe know any other such players?

When will big companies like Sony,Samsung,LG, Pioneer, Denon... start selling such devices.

Thank you.
Kind regards.

No answer, interesting.

Does that means that DUNE HDI players are the only blu-ray + mkv,wmv.. players in one unit on the market.

The BDP-83 from OPPO Digital supports MKV files and AVCHD.

Psst, don't tell anybody, but the Dune's from HDI are not only fast and affordable players (and streamers!), they are also reported to be region/zone-free for DVD and Blu-ray

As it has already been stated, mkv isn't being used as a format in the commercial world of video. It's an open source container for all kinds of legal and mostly illegal material. I'm not sure if there is even a fixed documentation, like there is one for DivX. So implementing and later having to support such a feature is probably not on top of the list of the companies you've mentioned.

Those who need mkv support can get it from the likes, that already have been mentioned.

OPPO Digital 83 is $499 and a direct purchase unit from the manufacturer and to me any big company will sell to resellers not direct so if they even had a player as good which they are none unless you spend well over $1000 you are really buy a cheap $200-$250 player if it sells for $500 at the street level. OPPO Digital has proven to be a quality brand for DVD players and beat out the big companies on DVD upconverting, which the 83 also provides impressive up converting. I would get the OPPO Digital 83!
