Default press release from Paramount about Transformers...HAHAHA

Alright, so apparently Paramount just released a press release stating that transformers hd sales was 100,000 first day and an additional 90,000 the following 6 days. I still feel that bluray can beat them in sale numbers...what do yall think?

here is the link to the article http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...s_Records/1093

paramount can take a long lick of my lolly. hahahaha they need to sell a lot to make up for the heartbreak kid. If paramount can drive off the trek fans sure as hell the can drive off the rest of the transformer fans. Please

I agree. There is another thread on this with so manyh ups and downs on this matter. We can say all we want, but honestly have to wait until friday to know what really happened this past week. But this is why we are on this forum, I just hope people don't panic.

I'll bet a lot of those numbers are for discs going outside the US via Amazon.

I believe 'em, unfortunately. I can't tell you how many times I was b!itch slapped and laughed at whenever I said Transformers would sell well over 100,000 copies the first week.

Transformers is huge for HD-DVD. It is a hardware selling piece of software whether everyone will admit to it or not. But, so is Spidey, Pirates of Caribbean: AWE, Die Hard, Simpsons, etc, etc...

So we lose one week on the Nielsens. Not a big deal in the grand scheme.

This is awful news....

The fact that HD-DVD can put up numbers like this, just means that this war is no where near close to over, and might end up having the wrong side winning...

Cool the only "win" for Paramount was conning Toshiba into paying them $150 Million

That was brilliant. And, knowing that their consumers will come right back to them in 18 months they could care less. Of course they will spin this in the meantime and I will buy TF on Blu in 14 months.

Come on, no doom and gloom. Don't take one week and think it over. Blu has been hit before and keeps on coming. Is our format of choice winning? Yes and it continues to grow. Look at the support at retail, it does not lie. Target, Walmart, Best Buy to name a few who are EXPANDING their Blu sections and cutting down on HD-DVD. Look at Costco as well. Retail is looking good on the Blu support.

Look at the movies we have coming thru the end of the year and the new announcements for 2008 keep coming.

Positive thinking is needed.

It is only one title for them...it probably won't make that much of a dent in the lead that Blu ray has over HD DVD. It was a big title for them though, and it is about time they turned out to buy a title. I still hope Blu wins the week.

The real shame would be how many die hard Blu ray owners purchased this title. If they attribute to a large number of the 190,000 units then the HD DVD group accomplished what they were hoping. I hope this isn't the case though.

What this shows is the market is growng overall.

Whatever HD-DVD does Blu-ray will do 2-1+ better.

Transformers was the only hd dvd title in the top 50. Blu-ray had 8 movies in the top 50. Both Pirates movies were right behind Turdformers. Blu-ray will win this week again it is obvious.
These #'s are coming from the same people who actually said that they switched to hd dvd because it is superior. How could we trust anything they say?

You know I just thought of something.

Why this press release on a Monday?

I think that they are trying to capitalize on a whole week of propaganda perhaps they already know the numbers coming out on Friday from the BOGO sales will nullify their numbers. So they have to spin it while they can. HD-DUD always has a motive to their timing.

Remember if you take a super conservative number say 50,000 and they each only make one BOGO purchase thats already 100,000 units. Thats not even counting stand alones and FAR from the estimated 20-30% who actually use their PS3 as a player.

And, as we like to point out about "Opening weekend" movie numbers:

How many of those "record-breaking opening day" Transformers HD sales were made BEFORE people found out about what they wouldn't be getting on the disk?--
100,000 sales is 100,000 victims...

Can't wait until all the soccer moms start complaining about junior's HD DVD not working in the DVD player. Doubt they'll be rushing out and buying a HD DVD player. Nah, they're far more likely to return the HD DVD for the DVD version.

Heres my take on this. Lets say 50,000 people bought a blu-ray movie with the BOGO sale then they got 2 movies so we would have 100,000 movies sold and i know more people bought something and more than one movie. So I think we cancelled out transformers but what about normal buys?

I really think that in volume alone...Blu ray movies had to out sell HD DVD last week with all of the BOGOF. I would be surprise to see if we had one movie sell as many as 190,000 units. But I do believe that there has to be more Blu ray movies sales than that but they will probably be scattered.

I think the Nielsens ratings will show mostly Blu ray titles in the top 10.

All in all, it would be rediculous for people to start panicking because of one movie and the first potential week win of 2007. I know I'm not concerned!
