Default I love the smell of a new Blu-ray...

Just thought I'd share. They smell sort of almondy to me, brings back memories of new action figures from when I was a kid.

There used to be this chemical grape-ish smell to new cassette tapes by Elektra and a few other companies back in the day. I loved it. I hope I can still have kids .

You guys are weird.. and yet I know what you mean... like that new car smell, the smell of a new TV fresh from the factory, the smell of the greatest and best thing ever (in your world at least).
I haven't gone around sniffing my BDs though.... but smell is a powerful sense and must smell better than those HD-DUDs... which I hear smell like $h!+.

I don't know what BD smells like, perhaps blue berry. But would think HD DVD is the "look and smell of shinola on a shingle".

Question is, is it a gimmick, or a marketing strategy?
I think that would be a great idea, make the Blu-ray smell good, and people will be like, "What's the great smell? It seems to be coming from over here in this Blu-ray section".
Only problem is, if the smell is bad people would be like "what's that awful smell"... on the other hand, Disney had to remove the Jasmine scent they were pumping into one of their "4-D" shows at Disney World cause some people were allergic to it, that could be bad too.

Hehehehe.. i know what you mean. I buy it and I just want to open it right then and there! Sometimes I do on the way home. And when I open them, i take all those nasty looking devices out. All the tape, the ads and coupons (keep the good ones), the security devices, everything I don't want to see when i open it up!
I hate those little black things. And I always fold in those tabs on the side (I love how the BD security tabs fold in and get out of the way, unlike the nasty DVD tabs).

If they want to make the blu-ray section smell like something, then coat the display cards, not the inserts in discs case.

They last thing I want is to attract bugs, and some day open the case to find thousands of tiny insects nibbling away at the inserts.

Do NOT scent blu-ray! It doesn't need it.
