Default A Question For Mods...

I don't know if you are the ones to handle this, but perhaps you can pass it along to the website operators/designers.

I was thinking about whether or not it might be possible to create a permanent icon/display on the Blu-ray.com main somewhere to display the latest released Nielson numbers and the date that they were announced? It would save me (and many others, I'm sure) about 30 minutes every Friday of looking through pages and pages of posts in the dedicated thread for the actual numbers. That way, EVERYONE can see the numbers (not just those seeking them through the thread) and a link underneath the display could bring them to the thread for the ensuing discussion. I believe that this could alleviate some congestion frustration among the masses.

Thanx for listening guys/gals...

Great idea. Have the chart showing on the main page where people who come here to research before adopting can easily notice as well how blu-ray is clearly the format with a future.

I don't know about showing a chart. Unfortunately, that may infringe some sort of copyright law as it is technically a licenced publication. But, some type of box about 1"x3" at the top of the page with the simple ratio posted.

Nielson Sales Figures: Week Ending Oct 13th 2007
Blu-ray = 71%, HD DVD = 29%

Something that simple would be effective and it wouldn't infringe on the news articles or layout. The pie charts would throw the entire site layout out of whack, requiring much more effort to incorporate than the headache would be worth.

Well, FART ON MY BEST BOOTS!!! I wonder how many people DON'T know about this? Oh well, it's just a thought. I still think it's a good idea though. As mentioned above, it would be information that non-members would be able to view when researching Blu-ray without intent to view forum posts.

I agree that this would be a nice addition to the site. I don't really like to look through the posts as I usually end up on page 37 instead of the page I want to look at.

LOL... I don't think that's what he means at all. I believe he is referencing my original concern of the initial need to find the details that create the foundation of the most recent discussion onslaught. Many of us still enjoy reading the posts in order to partake. However, you can't really partake if you don't know the numbers. So, being able to see the numbers before heading into the Nielson thread will save the frustration of reading all of these posts without knowing what the hell all of the fuss (positive OR negative) is about.

Thanx for the catch. It's been corrected. I've been trying to follow about 10 threads tonight. Apparently, the mind tends to wander around the others while you respond to one in particular.

Not a problem...just noticed it. I actually did that in a conversation about twelve hours ago and while I was finishing my sentence, I realized my miscalculation. Besides, it appears no one else was paying attention.
