Default Blu-Ray beats HDDVD Transformers Week ???!!!

Hey guys i know that we've all head the 190k transformers news but check this out,

http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Fea...ars.asp?view=1

Now, I know this doesn't mean much, but they didn't even do the BOGO, right? And we still won? Man, if we can win this week then we'll never lose. PERIOD.

BLURAY FTW

Ya, but that's only amazon. Hopefully those trends are everywhere! I really think we have a good chance at winning. I bought 14 movies that weekend and I usually don't buy any. I think the bogo gave a lot of ps3 an excuse to buy some bds.

I find it hard to believe that they actually sold 190k copies not just the first week but in 2 days?! 100k on Monday and 90k on Tuesday? NO WAY. I bet those are the numbers shipped and they are just trying to spin numbers to look good.

Nielsens will show us the actual sales on Friday and we will see the truth.

But still it did seem like the BOGO offer did very well so I think that it will be "ok" even if the 190k number holds up.

I like those numbers

I know it's best to wait, but I'm pretty sure Blu won this week.
...if not, no big deal, BD has been winning every past week and will likely continue winning.

But can you imagine if we had lost every week and then when Spiderman 3 was finally gonna come out we still lost? I would be very tempted to switch sides or go neutral, and hopefully if we do win the same thing happens to many hd dvd fan boys.

How is one week gonna matter for hd-dvd when blu-ray will trump it for all the upcoming weeks with all the new exclusives coming out

Sorry, but eproductwars is not meaningful even for just Amazon because their methodology for comparing formats is flawed for situations like last week. See the post below for more details.

I think they just finalized, I see next week's (partial) numbers.

Week of Oct 16th was 59.92% Blu-ray. That's much higher than I thought. However, remember that online retailers favor catalog titles, and new releases tend to do much better in B&M. The HDM sales is still dominated by people who walk into the store and buy the one hot movie of the week.

If Paramount were still neutral, they could've sold 600K units or even more of Transformers thanks to the PS3 owners...sad ain't it?

That's what I've been thinking too. On one hand, I want TF on DUD do badly so BD can win the week, on the other hand we all know common titles sell about 2:1 on BD, so the more TF they sell, the more money P/DW will realize they lost....

Who cares if they only win the week, it's still not good to see they have the best selling movie period as far as HD goes. I would be concerned because postive sales figures like this show them HD-DVD is still selling and is likely to stretch this out a lot further than we would like.
I don't care how people want to spin it, Transformers selling the way it has for their side is not a good thing. I think it's also a sign their customer base may be growing, maybe by Blu ray supporters who couldn't hold out for this movie. My best friend just went dual format as he said he is not going to pass on getting movies like this. I myself will contine to hold out and buy Blu only but this war sure doesn't look like it's anywhere close to ending.

So I guess BD stand alone owners don't count now.

It was 100K on the first day actually and 90 for the rest of the week. I don't find that any spectacular really. I mean look at how fast it sunk over the week. 100K on Thuesday, 90K for the other 4 days? That's only 22,5K per day, nothing to write home about. It probably tells us that nearly every HD DVD owner bought a copy, which means it won't be doing so good anymore from now on.
