G4TechTV Channel Angers Me

So I was just watching Attack of the Show on G4, when I should be studying, and Layla Kaley does 'The Feed' which is just current headlines of electronics and what not and the first one was pertaining to the war of blu ray vs hddvd.

She said that blu ray has outsold the software on a 2:1 ratio, with blu ray selling 2.6 million while hd has only sold 1.4 million. BUT then she said 'this however doesnt include the recent sales of the big hit Transformers with its sales of 200,000, and so its still anyones game'

wtf is that, its pretty clear that blu ray is dominating in sales of software, i hardly think that transformers will sell 1.2 million copies in 4 months to make it 'anyones game' and thats assuming that blu ray doesnt sell a single movie in that time frame, especially with the big hits coming out. The 'anyones game' comment is a fools hope.

this is why i hate G4TechTv...because Microsoft owns it. Attack of the show and X-Play spend most of the time looking at xbox games or how masterchief would 'take it'. I dont know what im more tired of seeing everywhere, britney spears or masterchief.

Personally, I've never seen the show. I assume I get the channel... don't really care. I do find it funny how often people on this and other boards complain about it, though. If its so bad why does everyone keep watching it?

But, as to their logic... that's completely off base. Aside from the fact that the Nielson's haven't confirmed 200,000 yet, we also have no idea how many discs Blu-ray sold last week. If its also 200,000 then HD DVD hasn't even begun to make up ground yet. They're still over one million discs behind (in the US) no matter what this week's numbers turn out to be.

Yah just wait 2 months after spiderman, ratatouille, cars, die hard, POTC, the simpsons, and all the great catalog movies that are coming out....

oh yah what does hd dvd have coming out? Shrek 3? LOLOLOL....I can't believe people would pay money for that POS.....Bourne....it will sell well but not as good as any of those above.

At first I was kind of mad when they took G4tv off my cable package and put it to channel 800something but looking back on that network the only thing I miss is Ninja Warrior. That network made me feel bad about being a video game and movie nerd so good riddance lol.

I stopped watching frequently when they stopped being TechTV. I watched during E3 and saw Layla. She is one HOT...pocket rocket (I love that British accent)! I would love to show her and Olivia the joys of going Blu! I may have been watching too much Boondocks and the exploits of "A Pimp Named Slickback". LMAO

They definitely have an agenda. I know people always say conspiracy like stuff and others give them hell, but its true in this instance.

On dvduesday (segment were they rate dvd's on tuesday) If they ever show a HD media version of a said movie, 9 out of 10 times its the hddvd version.

I watched that last night too and sunk deeper in my chair when I heard "still anyone's game" It ticked me off because the impression for the average viewer will now be that everything is even now.

Later on though, they talked about their recent contest where you could win an HD DVD player. They said (I'm paraphrasing) "that didn't make much sense so now the grand prize is a copy of Spiderman 3 on Blu-ray and ...you're very own Blu-ray player!!!!".

By their tone, it did seem like they were upgrading the prize package.

I've hated techtv since they sold it to whoevers owned it for the last few years so the original owner could play with that space travel competition

since it was sold the programming was total shit and all the interesting tech guys got moved or fired -_-

That channel is so PRO XBOX its stupid, pisses me off everytime I watch it they always gotta find some way to undermine Sony and the PS3

Although I realize now that they are likely to be HD-DVD exclusive, I use to watch them years ago for game reviews. But as soon as they started saying windows was that much better than MAC OS, and kept attacking APPLE with bad reviews and little coverage, I stopped watching. They really are an M$ channel, in their back pocket, taking money for every good review on XBOX they give, and every bad review of competitors they give.
I'm sure I am over-exaggerating here, but the fact is they are biased already!

Since MS owns it, we shouldn't be surprised at the way the news was spinned. I was more interested in her comment that she puts out on the first date.

Agreed those titles alone might bring the numbers close to 3 to 1 if it does HD DVD is in serious trouble. Out of curiosity what's the next "big" title on HD DVD after Shrek 3?

I didn't really understand it either. My guess is that she was supposed to say something like "it doesn't make sense not to offer a movie with the prize package" (because the contest is to create a short movie) but she may not have finished reading the teleprompter (or there was a glitch, or I just didn't hear her properly,...).

Seeing as Spiderman 3 is the next big movie after Transformers, maybe that's why they switched players...?
