WHY BD IS BETTER THAN HD-DVD this Article only states calculation of PQ.

Just read this Article very carefully and Comments as you want.

Enjoy it my BD-Fans and Another victory for us and for every Blu-ray Fan.

AVC is better than VC-1 and you have been beaten again Microsoft even you have money.

The numerical charts are astounding. Everyone chose blu.
The last list has hd dvd's that scored 9.5's (no 10's), and blu-rays that scored 10's.
But I think I'm switching to hd dvd for those wonderous interactive features, and attach rates, fun.

The Numbers DON'T lie.

Keep this link handy, and point all the HD-DUD fanboys at AVS over to read it.
They might learn something.

In fact BDA should use this as a tool to help promote the better quality of Blu-ray. Perhaps one of our insiders should bring it up as a promotional tool.

Speaking of the spreadsheet - I really need to do a new update and then set aside some more time to finish off sorting out the reviews by decade.
This is something a lot of factual analysis detractors, like rdjam, have oft pointed out as one of the main reasons why the numbers show HD DVD not being reviewed as consistently as Blu-ray.
We all know it's a crock because the oldest titles are being put out by Warner on both formats and I'm sure next year Lawrence of Arabia from Sony will knock everyone's socks off getting high PQ marks across the board, but you know, I'm up for the challenge so.....so be it.
It'll take a little bit of time though, there's over 1,000 reviews now from both sides in my spreadsheet.

has anyone posted this at avs or hdd.com? it would probably get pulled as 'flamebait' pretty quick I think. a lot of people would cry about seeing proof that they have been getting an hd placebo as opposed to the real thing.

I think this quote from the article speaks volumes:

"And I’m still baffled by the few readers who cannot accept the technical explanation that a higher bit rate and less compression for any given CODEC will produce a better image. Sony’s Superbit DVDs demonstrated very clearly that less compression and a higher average bit rate produces a better looking video transfer. Why doesn’t that experience with MPEG-2 convince skeptics that similar improvements will occur with VC-1 and AVC on HD discs? "

Unfortunately, this reminds again of how Warner is falling short by using VC-1 for Blu-ray. I wish they would start mastering in AVC and then downconvert to VC-1 for their dud releases.

Seems like there are a lot of people on AVS that disagree with this article.

I read most of it an AVS and i laugh keeping laughing how they are attacking you ,giving illusions facts and not real one. They are totally blind wont accept the truth BD is the superior format.

What makes me laugh more is when they give an example of 720P and 1080P cannot be observe on a 37" display. So why we should bother and buy 1080p capable player when 1080i is enough to make them living the experience.

Doby I've got to say I'm glad you and others are still over there slugging it out, but I don't know how you stand it. I would've opened my wrists long before now.
