Default Jennifer Aniston in talks for 'Mean Moms'

Quote:

Following the success of last summer’s “We’re the Millers,” Jennifer Aniston is in early talks for “Mean Moms” at New Line.

New Line tapped veteran TV director Beth McCarthy-Miller to helm “Mean Moms” last June. Project was set up in 2010 with Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Jill Messick producing for New Line. Shankman and Gibgot are producing through their Offspring banner.

“Mean Moms” will bear some resemblance to Paramount’s 2004 comedy “Mean Girls,” since both are adapted from advice books for parents penned by Rosalind Wiseman. Messick exec produced “Mean Girls” and brought “Mean Moms” to Offspring.

The writing team of Sean Anders and John Morris are rewriting “Mean Moms.” Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein were tapped in 2012 to rewrite the project.

As with “Mean Girls,” story will start with a family moving to a new town. “Moms” will focus on a happily married mother of two who moves from small-town America to the high-class suburbs, where she faces the cutthroat world of competitive parenting.

When New Line set up “Mean Moms,” it tapped the scripting team of Dara and Chad Creasey to adapt Wiseman’s 2006 tome “Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads: Dealing with the Parents, Teachers, Coaches and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future.”

Wiseman’s 2002 book “Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends and the New Realities of Girl World” served as the foundation for Par’s “Mean Girls.”

McCarthy-Miller directed “Saturday Night Live” for over a decade until 2006. She also directed the final episodes of “Mean Girls” scribe Tina Fey’s “30 Rock.”

I remember this being first announced 4 years ago, glad to see it finally taking off. I've been waiting for this to happen. It would've been nice to see Rachel McAdams return as Regina George with kids, but Jennifer Aniston is a good choice.

With the Napoleon Dynamite Cartoon, Anchorman 2, and now this, we've reached the trifecta of 2004 comedy sequels/adaptations that should have came out years ago.

Sean Anders to Direct Jennifer Aniston in Mean Moms
Quote:

It was early last year that Jennifer Aniston’s name was first connected to the New Line Cinema comedy Mean Moms. Today, Deadline reports that the film has found a director in Sex Drive and That’s My Boy helmer Sean Anders. Anders, who also scripted We’re the Millers, previously directed Aniston in last year’s Horrible Bosses 2.

Mean Moms will adapt Rosalind Wiseman’s nonfiction book “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads,” a followup to her 2002 book “Queen Bees and Wannabees.” That book also served as the source material for the 2004 comedy Mean Girls. Published in 2007, “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads” is officially described as follows:

What happens to Queen Bees and Wannabes when they grow up?

Even the most well-adjusted moms and dads can experience peer pressure and conflicts with other adults that make them act like they’re back in seventh grade. In “Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads,” Rosalind Wiseman gives us the tools to handle difficult situations involving teachers and other parents with grace.

“Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads” is filled with the kind of true stories that made Wiseman’s New York Times bestselling book Queen Bees & Wannabes impossible to put down. There are tales of hardworking parents with whom any of us can identify, along with tales of outrageously bad parents—the kind we all have to reckon with. For instance, what do you do when parents donate a large sum of money to a school and their child is promptly transferred into the honors program–while your son with better grades doesn’t make the cut? What about the mother who helps her daughter compose poison-pen e-mails to yours? And what do you say to the parent-coach who screams at your child when the team is losing? Wiseman offers practical advice on avoiding the most common parenting “land mines” and useful scripts to help you navigate difficult but necessary conversations.

Mean Moms is being produced by Offspring Entertainment’s Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman.
