If you voted "Other", please say who you had in mind that wasn't on the list.

Ed Wood and Uwe Boll may be completely inept, but to me Edward Zwick is the epitome of a hollywood hack.

Michael Bay, hands down.

Tyler Perry would be up there for me as well.
As would M. Night Onehitwonderman.

He also recycles the same black actors when there's plenty others that should be given a chance.

Yep. Good 'ole Perry. There's always a woman that needs rescuing from an abusive man, and always a super attractive sensitive man waiting to rescue her. Most everyone is rich. There is almost always an elaborate wedding. Everyone goes to church and believes in the Christian faith (even the villains). One family member is always a black sheep (drugs normally, but sometimes they are just users that respect no one). Madea is always the wise giver of life lessons, and everything almost always works out just right for everyone in the end.

You know, just like in real life.

In my opinion, there is a difference between a director making movies that don't appeal to you, and a director that is truly awful. Michael Bay manages to create the exact movie he sets out to create, so even if you hate that movie, he's done exactly what he wanted to do. Ed Wood or Tyler Perry, on the other hand, fail at their intentions, which makes them worse, imo. I just happen to enjoy Ed Wood's failures

Tyler Perry +1 here.

So you tell me my opinion is based on my perception of the intent of the director...by presenting your position by explaining to me that your opinion is based upon your perception of the intent of the director.

So in essence, you're saying my opinion is wrong and yours is right. lol

Crap is crap, no matter how you sculpt it or present it.

Yep... in addition to the fact that few people outside the business realize how difficult it is to create the sequences that he does. Like him or not, he's a great director in a pure visual sense.

Ed Wood: While his movies were pretty much unintended comedy and downright bizzare (Bride of the Monster ending, anyone?), he did have quite a heart in them and they do have messages that evoke that, like Glen or Glenda being an almost autobiographical tale on Ed's cross dressing lifestyle, or Plan 9 in an anti war way with the Aliens trying to prevent Earth from building a weapon that can destroy the universe. Can't say the same about his later work, though.

Uwe Boll: What can I say that hasn't been said before about Boll from a gamer's perspective? Well...he knows how to address his critics.

Michael Bay: He's done some pretty bad movies (Pearl Harbour, which is just boring until the we actually get to the bombing and Transformers 2, which is just downright offensive) but he's got some good stuff in there as well (The Rock and the first Transformer movie (and probably the third one as well)).

Seltzerberg: The less said about these two, the better.

So, yeah, probably a toss up between Boll and 'Berg.

Yeah, if you can shut off your brain and then jack up your senses enough to keep up with it. His fast cuts are slight-of-hand, designed to wow you and hide the fact that he's really a hack that's just mastered a single technique. Respecting that is the equivalent of a small child being amazed at the magician for pulling the coin out of his ear.

Wowie-zowie amazing! ...until you realize it's all much ado about nothing.
