Default How did HD DVD not die?

I mean comon. We had every studio except Universal. Who the hell buys an HD DVD player when Blu-ray has every studio minus one and HD DVD only has 3. It was a no brainer back then, but people still bought HD DVD wth?

people are excited and impulsive, they run around like a chicken with it's head cut off, they don't want to do something boring like research the technology they see thier favorate movies is on HD-DVD they buy into and then they notice afterwards they are more restricted in terms of what's available, some choose to then go neutral, while others slowly go insane trying to defend thier mistake of a purchase :P I really wish I have a better answer for you.

I spend my time debating with HD-DVD'er some listen then you also get those fence sitting who see both argument and choose base on the argument you put forth (I can atleast hope)

HD-DVD wont die for at least another two years. The format war will be over a lot sooner but don't expect Toshiba to stop mass producing HD-DVD players for a long time to come.

do you really mean to tell me that if Warner switch to BD exclusive you don't think Universal or Weinstein will atleast go neutral coming to a conclusion that the studio's have the say, if Universal goes neutral, or BD exclusive after warner, do you honestly think HD-DVD will last long? Paramount/Dreamworks would then be the last major studio releasing movies for HD-DVD.

Just having Warner switch will be a sever blow the HD-DVD but the studio's know just as we do that this format war doesn't do them any favors nor is it good for us.

Low unprofitable prices, huge giveaways (like free Heroes, 2 box sets, Kong, 5 mailed movies included with 360 addon), and the $150 million payoff/life-support to get Paramount/Dreamworks exclusive.

I will admit those ruby red cases looked pimp when I was looking around before I made my choice. Blu-rays color is just to bright, they should have gone with a darker blue.

I have to disagree...I think the Blu really stands out next to the Red. The red is dull in comparison.

It's got to be Universal and moreso, price. Perhaps they see that the majority of movies they want to watch are on both players so they chose the cheaper of the two.

hay hay! your a fiesty one!

No i was not saying that Uni or Weinstein would not go neutral, all i meant is that Toshiba are gonna play this out for a long time. As long as there are Studios releasing on their format they will continue to mass produce their products (as stupid as it would be).

The format war will be over soon but HD-DVD will not be dead for a while.
