Default Eliminate Solo Dvd's????

Just an idea, all the BLU-RAY Studio's should stop selling solo DVD'S.

Offer only BLU-RAY, but in the package include a free DVD version. This may force the consumer to go High Def eventually, if they refuse always have the DVD version with the enticement to go BLU.

I wonder if this would be financially feasible

definitely will not be financially feasible. a good theoretical idea, but this couldn't even be financially feasible if 1/3 the population owned blu rays, and we are no where near that point.

+1 forcing people to buy products on blu ray will only push them away from it.

Man at first I thought you were suggesting we eliminate all DVD copies of the movie "Solo" starring Mario Van Peebles and I was going to sign up!

It would anger the public nobody likes to be forced to buy somthing. right now people are angry over being forced to buy flat panels because analog sets are phased out. the general public just switched from VHS to DVD it happen with market demand not being forced too. People at this point wont be happy being forced to change format again plus switching to high def. I dont think somthing like this can be considered until 2012 when HD is fully implemented. while most of us tech head see nothing wrong with this because its our passion the average Joe will not be happy being having to change 2 formats DVD BLUray plus changing to High Def which is being forced by goverment FCC laws.

It's not HD the FCC has mandated, it's digital broadcasting; standard-definition TV owners will not be left out in the cold. Analog TV owners will not have to get new TVs, either:

Quote:
Between January 1, 2008, and March 31, 2009, all U.S. households will be able to request up to two coupons, worth $40 each, to be used toward the future purchase of eligible digital-to-analog converter boxes. Eligible converter boxes are for the conversion of over-the-air digital television signals, and therefore are not intended for analog TVs connected to a paid provider such as cable or satellite TV service.
From the FCC.

Cool

I understand your thought process, but isn't this kinda what the dud's do. Except they hd/dvd combo discs that suck, or at least that's what everyone who owns one seems to think. but i like your commitment to blu. Like stated before it would be monetarily unfeasible.
