Default Madden NFL 2013 - August 28, 2012

Madden 13 comes in with a revolutionary player motion system. Gone are the motion capture replays from all previous versions. If you played or read about Backbreaker, the game that used physics to do player interactions, that is what Tiburon's new Infinity engine will do for Madden 13.

Demo Release Date Aug. 9

Quote:
What's New:

Presentation

CBS Sports top announcing crew of Phil Simms and Jim Nantz are the games new hosts

The new announcers will be seen pregame in cut scenes that show the stadium.

Over 200 new cuts scenes that will be shown pregame, throughout the game

Halftime will have a stats overlay but no halftime show

Lighting during the day will change gradually instead of suddenly at quarter changes

HDR lighting and motion blur

Passing Game

Improved the left-analog stick passing controls for precise ball placement in
the receiver's hands along with made user catching easier

New pass trajectories and ball speeds

New pass animations speed up the time in which quarterbacks get rid of the ball, a new shovel pass and other on-the-run setups

Pump fakes are now directed toward specific receivers, occur faster, and contain specific animations when performed outside of the pocket.

20 new quarterback dropbacks, including those for 1/3/5/7-step variations, screens, and plays with auto-pump fake dropbacks.

To improve the receiving, EA is including more than 430 new catch animations, some of which are fueled in part by the changes made to the left-analog passing stick.

QBs have new moves for avoiding the pass rush

Play Action now has an abort button, the QB moves faster, the RBs block better

Receivers icons will be grey until they are ready and looking for the pass

AI

Receivers and DBs will have to be looking at the ball to know its there. So no more turn around last second catches or INTs.

Defenses line-up opposite receivers in a best-on-best designation. IE LBs won't line up on WRs in Man

Defenses will disguise their man or zone coverage before the snap so offenses can't try to use motion to uncover the defense's plans

Defenders use different coverage techniques such as off coverage (where they start seven or so yards off the line of scrimmage and attempt to read the ball), trail techniques (including hand fighting), and split techniques (where the linebacker stands between the tight end and slot receiver).

New animations allow for simultaneous tackles while the ball is being caught (including being able to knock out the ball in mid-air), and in general the development team says it's been working on the interplay between players while the ball is in the air.

EA promises enhanced AI playcalling for two-minute drill, goal line, clock draining, and red zone situations.

New Infinity Engine improves tackle animations and the outcome of player interactions including a balance system. You will no longer be able to run over players laying on the field, you will trip if you do that. You won't be able to just run into your O line, you'll be knocked back.

Better kick off coverage, no more player bunching. Players will stay in lanes on coverage

Audio

9000 new lines of commentary, 82 hours worth.

Exclusive audio clips from NFL Films that will only be heard on Madden 13 that includes QB cadences, chatter, etc

All new recordings from every NFL stadium with 24 mics vs 4 in Madden 12

All new Madden theme

OTHER

Madden's controls are now synced with NCAA Football

Connected Careers will be a new feature introduced into Franchise mode that can be played on or offline

No import of NCAA 13 draft class

Cross platform play with social media integration

Online and offline franchise is GONE and replaced with Connected Careers which gives much more depth to the franchise experience and you can control leagues to what type of connected career are allowed such as coaches only or QBs only. And if you are in an open Connected Career "franchise" you can switch to another player or be a coach without starting over.

After a fan contest for who will be on the cover, Calvin Johnson won out the last battle over Cam Newton.

Madden 13 E3 Trailer (song was in the Miami Vice movie)

To introduce the game, Tiburon is doing a series of 7 videos on new features. Here they are in order (some haven't been released yet):

This webcast tells of the NFL Films sounds and has the new Madden Theme late in the program.

I appreciate the time you spent with this. All the videos you posted were very enlightening on it's progress and the changes made over previous versions.

Hey Don, look what I found! This is an old article, but its obviously why Tiburon is pulling out all stops on revamping Madden this year.

NFL 2K13 Comes One Step Closer to Reality with Take Two Sales
Thursday, 08 April 2010 00:51 Kenny Kramer
E-mail Print PDF

Another step towards NFL 2K13 seems to have been made. As reported back in late January, rumors have been swirling around TakeTwo (T2), the parent company of 2K Games and 2K Sports, that preparations were being made to bid on the NFL license in 2012 once EA's exclusivity agreement ends.

NFL 2K13The company was planning fire sales throughout its operations in order to raise capital in an attempt to negotiate a deal with the NFL. As mentioned this can't happen until the license ends in 2012. Our sources did mention back in January that the company had to start planning now because of the logistical scope of everything involved. Also mentioned was that talks could start within 6 months of the EA exclusive contract's end, "as to allow all parties adequate time to talk".

The fire sale appears to have officially started. Take2 has sold off one of its largest assets with little notice from the public. Take2 has sold off North America’s largest video game distributor in JOAG, or “Jack of All Games”. The distributor was a huge asset to the company by distributing the mega-publisher’s games on the cheap in addition to turning a profit for Take2 by also distributing the games of most other publishers who sell in the Americas. JOAG is now owned by Synnex of Canada.

Hopefully this pays off in terms of building up funds for the NFL license, but this could certainly hurt Take2 in the long run if they don’t get the license. JOAG gave T2 a great channel of distribution and retail connections that will be sorely missed in the future.

On the positive side, at least it looks like everything is panning out in terms of the rumors we had heard about 2K Sports releasing a new football game. We’ll keep an eye on this one as it continues to develop.

Being in Detroit, I'm so proud this year. Verlander on MLB 2K, Megatron on Madden, Barry Sanders on NCAA....awesome!

God knows how much I hope 2k comes back.
Madden NOW is just starting to put things into Madden 13 that NFL 2k5 (2004 release on last gen system) had.

OK I looked over everything slick1ru2 posted and it does look impressive. Perhaps the biggest jump in a Madden game in some time. The new tackling animations are a huge improvement, the CBS NFL Broadcasting team is a huge improvement, among other things like the players having to actually be able to see the ball to make a play on it.

But I still dont trust EA and will wait on reviews. The idea they got rid of franchise mode and replaced it with whatever that other thing is called concerns me

Oh and I hope they dont forget atmosphere. One of the things that made 2004 so great was that you could really notice the stadium rocking in a playoff game but you could hear a pin drop week 17 at a 2-13 team's stadium which would be 80% empty

It seems that they really put a lot of effort into this version. Can't wait to play it. Already have it pre-ordered.

Only thing I don't like is the exclusion of the offline franchise. That was my favourite mode.

Added a video on Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) to the first post. Basically the pre-order bonuses at different stores, for different coaches and NFLK stars, in Connected Careers will be offered in MUT so if you buy a pack and it has that star in it and you don't already have it, they come available in game.

Besides no import from NCAA, the other big thing is no fantasy draft in online leagues. Thank goodness, those drafts went on forever and I sat through several last year.

I am going to be updating the first post with EA videos. Among them is the top 10 QB ratings. Heads up for those following the thread because editing a post doesn't send an alert email.
