Default Samurai Wolf / Samurai Wolf 2: Hell Cut (Film Movement)

Coming soon.

https://www.filmmovement.com/educati...m/samurai-wolf

Quote:
A powerful swordsman is hired to protect a blind lady boss from the evil Nizaemon, a man with no conscience, who has hired his own master swords-man, the only man skilled enough to kill the Wolf.
https://www.filmmovement.com/educati...m/samurai-wolf

Quote:
Kiba is caught in the intrigue between a crooked goldmine owner, a cynical, betrayed swordsman, a manipulative lady and an arrogant dojo master. The second and final installment in Gosha's Samurai Wolf carries on many on the hallmarks as the original: the same freeze-frame battle cry opening montage, the same awesome harmonica theme music, another title sequence in which Kiba is enjoying a snack. Kiba's trademark scissors are once again employed as a key plot device, and Kiba continues to demonstrate his honesty and honor in a corrupt and dirty world.

Holy shit! Did Film Movement get a deal with Toei? Hideo Gosha? These aren't my favorite Gosha films, but I sure as well enjoy them! Great news!!!!

You have got to be joking me!!!! This is honestly one of my favorite films and have been bugging Arrow about it for years!!!!!

I just don't see a mention of a Blu-ray anywhere. Top 10 Yakuza films of all time.

The movies are pretty bad ass, albeit a bit short. Still epic news overall. Started off frustrated that we didn't get Cure announced from Criterion, but now we have Samurai Wolf/Samurai Wolf 2/Violents streets all coming to Blu-ray.

Never seen them, but easy blind-buys for sure. I just hope we actually do get BD releases. I had mentioned in the FM thread that FM has signficantly cut down on their BD output, relegating a lot of films to DVD only. I don't imagine that'll be the case here though.

I asked about Violent Streets and they said it would have a Blu-ray. I just asked a follow up about these films, so lets see what they say. It does says something about Blu-ray on their site for $150 which I think is for shows or something? I'm not sure what that is about.

It's region free and shipped to your door direct from Eureka for less than a criterion...

Criterion will be from a 4K restoration unlike the Eureka release. There's a possibility Criterion may do a UHD release too. And it will cost roughly the same as that one during a 50% off sale.

I was about to come and talk some sense to you, but Mifune beat me to the punch. The new 4k remaster looks amazing, so there is no way I'd buy anything less. I've waited this long, I can wait a few more months as it seems like they are still touring it.

Goyokin would be a dream come true, but that's Toho, so I'm not getting my hopes up. Still, it would be amazing. The snow setting really sets the tone.

Yeah, this is amazing. Easily one of the best Yakuza films of all time with a bodycount that might even make John Woo blink. Outside of the Fukasaku films, this is my favorite Yakuza film from the 70's. Think you'll like it.

If you don't mind slight spoilers, check this scene out.

Awesome news. Excellent films all three. There's probably more on the way, since I don't think Toei does deals for just 3 films. More likely a pack of 10 or so titles.

I still have my HK Video DVDs Box sets containing these. The bad thing about them is the artwork / packaging is so beautiful I can never get rid of them...

Many of the others were even prettier, like Hunter in the Dark

And Three Outlaw Samurai
