Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring Damsels in Distress to Blu-ray in September. The first film from writer/director Whit Stillman (Metropolitan) since 1998's The Last Days of Disco, this whimsical comedy centers around a group of young women at a liberal arts college who try to improve the lives of the people around them.

Sony's Blu-ray presents the film in its 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following supplements:

Commentary with Whit Stillman and members of the cast
Damsels in Distress: Behind the Scenes featurette
An Evening with Damsels in Distress feature
A Great Lotion feature

Damsels in Distress is expected to street on September 25th.

I'll looking at likely importing this as the UK has been gifted with a DVD only release. Extras look good though, Stillman's commentaries are always good fun.

Looks like I'll have to wait for it to go on sale somewhere else like Amazon. The $2 shipping turned me away, but I'm glad some people are getting it.

WB doesn't liscence titles to anyone, so the only way to get that on Blu would be if they get their Blu-ray MOD program up and running.

My disc doesn't play in my main (Pioneer) Blu-Ray player. It starts up, does the loading screens and the Sony logo, but freezes right before the first trailer starts (there's loads of logos, warnings and trailers on this disc, btw). I've tried it multiple times, and it can't get past that part, and trying to skip ahead with the menu button or whatever else doesn't work either. I had to play it in my old Seiki player.
Anybody else have a similar issue here?

Saw Stillman's Damsels in Distress a while back. I thought this was mildly amusing, but didn't hold a candle to WS's '90's films. It reminded me a lot of 1995's Clueless for some reason, though with the focus being on college students rather than H.S. I liked GG a lot in Frances Ha & Greenberg, and IMHO she was the best thing about this film as well.

Some of my favorite moments:

[Show spoiler]-The scene when the GG character was in that diner having breakfast (after leaving the school temporarily in a state of depression), and she was basically advised by everyone in the diner not to off herself, since it would cause a mess for those who have to clean up after her....

[Show spoiler]-The scene(s) when GG & her gal-pals made a big deal of the stench of the guys on campus walking past them, to the point where they had to put hankerchiefs over their noses & one of them almost passed out - LOL. And, the later scenes of GG sending soap to the guys that stunk the most
