I'm 41 years old. Being a grown-up is not so bad. Or so I've heard. I'm in the best physical fitness shape of my life right now, and, while I'm not the most wealthy or successful guy in the world, I'm rolling along day by day with some amount of ease.
Turning 30 did not faze me like it fazes most people. Some of my friends really freaked out when they turned that age. It was just another day for me. |

I don't think getting older is necessarily better or worse. Some things are better and some things... not so much.
Would it be nice to be carefree, have less responsibility and simply live every day in the moment.. Of course!! And I do miss that! But I'll tell you what! It sure is nice to not live paycheck to paycheck, wonder if I'll have money for gas, struggle to repair my car if it's needs it or buy a new one when necessary. It's nice to travel a little bit and "enjoy" life a little more. Enjoying life just means different things at different ages. The days of 3 day benders in Vegas are pretty much behind me, clubs and late night drunken antics on the beach aren't on the agenda any longer. Those were replaced by traveling to new places and seeing and experiencing life! I don't mow the lawn because I have to, it's not a chore any longer. It's the equivalent of washing your first car when you were 16. Your proud of it, you want it to look nice... things just change over time. Actually, I retract the statement I made earlier about it not being better... It IS better once you get a little older. Every once and while I miss the "good old days", but all in all, there are more things that are better, than there are that I miss. Looking back I would rank my decades like this Worst - 20's: On my own and responsible for myself but not really making the money to do it. Every day was a little struggle and every month was a close call to pay the bills, go to school, work my job and still have time to myself. Middle - Teens: Care free, live In the moment, lots of fun but little freedom Best - 30's: Much more responsibility, but with school behind me, a career instead of a job and my financial situation stabilizing and even become stronger I started to regain my freedom of my teens because although I have much more responsibility, I am in a financial situation to start having fun again, just in a different way. I think the key to making your later decades the best decades of your life is making good decision in your early decades. Those that freak out as they get into their 30's may be those that didn't make good life decisions early on. And if that's the case, make good decisions now and you could still have your best decades in front of you. |

A few months ago, I stayed up late one night, and I drove down the street to a convenience store for a soda and candy bar. It occurred to me that I was not a kid anymore, and that, instead of being told not to eat junk food and to go to bed early, I was buying a candy bar from a convenience store at 3:00 in the morning. I'm living the dream! |

the movie itself doesn't interest me at all, but I'll give it a shot just for Kristen... even if it is dreary, depressing Kristen.
![]() Also happy to see Martin Starr in another flick. as a 40 year-old man-child, let me just say: 30 year-olds, stop your whining! ![]() |

Yeah they weren't great, but I dig movies like this and it looks very good, IMO. Bell is the main selling point for me though.

Kristen wearing a swimsuit (or less) for 99 minutes!!! A Kristen Bell movie getting good...ok, mediocre reviews? A movie with KB that's not on the level of Hit & Run? I'm all over this, but why did they need to release this on Vudu on a Monday and tempt me so??? We'll definitely rent this over the weekend...which is when they should have waited to offer it. I keep clicking on my Vudu account to check out that shot of KB in the red one piece and I can't concentrate on anything else right now.
![]() Maybe with VM she'll finally take the next step, from bad (everything she's starred in since FSM) to mediocre (this film) to very good. |
