I've noticed several different Matrix trilogies on Amazon. I'd like to know which one is the best to purchase. I do like extra features, and best picture quality...but I'm not interested in sets that include extra physical 'swag'.
Thanks! DW |

The Ultimate Matrix Collection is the way to go if you want EVERYTHING. It includes all 3 films, all of the extra features, and The Animatrix. Most of the other trilogy packages are missing something.
As for PQ and AQ? We are talking about Warner Bros here, so all of the film discs will be identical across every release. The rarely release "remastered" content if it has already been on Blu-ray previously. |

Thanks everyone! One more question: the following is also for sale on Amazon. The difference between the one suggested in this thread (with the picture) and this one is that the one previously mentioned has '2008' at the end of the title, and this one has '2012' at the end.
Any other difference between these two...besides the price, and the fact that Amazon sells them both?? http://www.amazon.com/The-Ultimate-M.../dp/B008UZCZL4 |

The only thing I can think of is that Warner issued another print run because of low stock. In doing so, they likely replaced the "defective" disc in the original set. And by defective I mean, "the disc that contained a 0.5 second visual glitch that was hardly noticeable unless you slowed the action down to a frame-by-frame advancement" situation. |

The new one (2012) might come with a digital copy but the 2008 one didn't. I've still not seen this set with the digital copy in the wild despite looking at every store, but I finally saw one on ebay...

There are 2 version of the Ultimate Matrix Collection, make sure to purchase the later-year one... 2011 or 2012 version I believe.
Why? Because there was a coding issue with Matrix Revolutions on the older bluray boxset where pixelation and digital jitter noise occurred in a scene. They had a trade-in program for a while through Warner for the bad discs. Make sure to get a newer Revolutions disc. -ObiTrent (edit: I now see that someone commented on the old disc issue) (P.S., I own the 10-Disc DVD version of this set - and the bonus features are enormous! I could have done without the Animatrix, but the rest is well done!) Last edited by ObiTrentKenobi; 05-29-2013 at 03:22 AM. |

The 3rd film had a half-second blip on it that I didn't notice until my 4th viewing after reading about it. But, I also had to pause playback and advance it frame by frame in order to see it. It's that quick.
