My PS3 loads up right away. From what I can see here, I am not alone. Don't forget, the new PS3 goes on the market in a couple of weeks!

Normal. My Sony BDP-S300 takes 2 to 3 mins, but my PS3 is about 10 sec. I have the latest firmware updates on both.

Took about 4 minutes on my Sony 300. Didn't think it was going to make it!

It's really sad, that some BD titles are like this; I think it might discourage some folks from buying BD players all together. I wish the movie companies would get it right.

Its the players not the movie companies... if the PS3 can load it quick then its possible with the hardware and nothing wrong with the media - blame the hardware and firmware not the movie companies :-)

BD-J is a full fledge Programming environnement.... the PS3 have a CPU, that's why it can process the Java so quickly.. while standalone don't have anything much at all..

My Sony BDP-S300 takes about 3 minutes to load Day After Tomorrow. And it has the 2.60 installed.

Blame the movie companies, since not everyone has (or wants) a PS. They should know that, and make their product accordingly. Make it work on the players that more AVERAGE (re: not gamers) consumers are likely to purchase.

The excessive load time seems to be the BD+ and I doubt Fox is abandoning it anytime soon.

It takes a few minutes on my Samsung BD-P1200 too, but TDAT and FF4ROTSS were worth the wait.

Well to me what is sadder than the loading times of some of these players is the attitude of some of the PS3 owners. You would not be having problems if you bought a PS3. That drives alot of people away. It is the most future proof of the players out there and can load faster. But does that make it the best player. Not in my book. It does not have analog outs, I donot need them but many do. It cannot do all the audio. Yes we know it is planned to get MA decoding. But will it pass it bitstream. We just donot know. And I am one that prefers my receiver decoding audio, since that is what it was made to do.

But the bottom line is we are in this together. Or so I thought we were.

I was considering a PS3, but it has no IR remote. That means I can't program it into my MX-3000 universal remote.

Maybe there is a third party solution to that by now, but also it doesn't match my other components visually.

Im with u there pal - isnt that was the receivers job to do the decoding? will the PS3 decoding process be better than the Reciever when comes to DD TRUHD and DTS-MA?

original SoC based players just dont have the processing power of the PS3.
That said newer SoC based chipsets from the likes of sigma will make the loading times faster on standalones. this of course is good news but dosent help current owners much.

the standalones will will get faster with each new generation.

So no its not the movie houses fault, its chipset limitations. they could add a CPU but it will drive up costs, somthing blu ray needed to go down not up.

So is it the bd+ or is it the java? I thought the java was used only for special features.

Why is this such a big deal? Put in the disk, take a leak, pour a beer, watch the movie.
