Default Great News: Die Hard I

Now this is a must-own.

PQ- Beautifully film-like, appropriately grainy, surprisingly sharp, great detail, faithful colors, no print damage, compression artifacts or edge enhancement. Some softness in the source. 4.5/5

AQ- Apart from some minor occasional muffled dialogue due to original recording conditions, this R-O-C-K-S. Very spacious, clean & dynamic with intense, realistic sound effects. The scene where the heavies shoot all the glass... turn it down if you're renting, it's insane. Overall probably 4/5 due to some limitations in the source, but many scenes are reference level.

Overall, a revelation. Like seeing the movie for the first time.

Man I can't wait for this. I've never owned this on DVD, so my main experience with Die Hard is low quality showings on HBO or TNT or something. This will be a huge upgrade for me that and...god damn do I love these movies.

Now I'm glad I held out.

Can you buy just Die Hard 1 without getting the box set?

I can't stand Die Hard 3 and I could live without owning 2..

I am for sure gonna buy Die Hard 4 though.

Yes you can. They are selling the boxset with all four, but they are also releasing them all individually. I am a fan of them all, mostly the first one though, so I'll be getting the boxset.

This is the only film in the series I think I'll end up owning, so thanks for the early review.

Getting 1-4 for Christmas I held off watching a couple on tv recently so they're fresher for the Blu-ray experience.

I loved the first and third, could barely watch the second (I don't think I've ever finished it) and the fourth looks like crap.

This is great news hollywoodguy. I really enjoyed the first Die Hard. Is this your revew or is it from some review site? Where is the source of this review?

Die Hard 1,2 & 3 didn't look good at all in HD broadcast. If the OP's remarks are true I would love to buy Die Hard 1 and 3 but not 2 and PG-13 Die Soft 4.

Thanks OP...
Did you buy the 4 disc set? Is it seperate discs or one big case containing all four movies? Where did you get it at?
