Default Sopranos and Dolby Digital

I am using a PS3 and a Pioneer Elite rcvr and cannot get it to output in DD. I pop in a BR disc like Casino Royale and it is fine. The back of the Sopranos blu-ray disc says DD is available?
I am using the optical output, the ps3 set to Bitstream, the disc setting to English 5.1

Thanks for your help

Yes it sucks, to get 5.1 audio you have to use PCM, so HDMI or 5.1 analogs for it to work.

DD is just that, it does not mean 5.1, it has to say DD5.1. Sometimes DD can be 5.0 even though it says 2.0 (I've got some dvds that say DD2.0 but I get 5.0), gets confusing, so if it says DD expect 2.0 audio.

I've got the Sopranos 6.5 too, it does lack something with the 2.0, I may have to hook-up the analogs on my samsung, just don't like the mess of all the wires.

I haven't upgraded my receiver yet so I'm listening to the Sopranos in 2.0 but my receiver mixes it and sends it to my center channel. It's a Klipsch Reference 52 so it sounds pretty good.

Use the 2-channel PCM and have the receiver use Prologic 2 on it, it will sound better then a normal dd5.1 track by a mile.
