Has anyone picked up these two titles yet (Shane/Paramount) (The Big Trail/Koch Media)? They were both released within the past month. Was curious to know if they're forced German subtitles on these discs.
Also, anyone know how the picture quality compares to US releases? Last edited by HuggyBear73; 12-22-2013 at 06:39 PM. |

There are three amazon customer reviews. They are in german and don't say much about the image quality but they are all five star reviews:

Yeah, I translated those reviews, but like you said, they don't give much info on image quality.

BDinfo Report for the German Blu-ray of The Big Trail.
The picture quality looks noticably brighter than the US Blu-ray, similar to the French Blu-ray but with a stronger encode. http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/blu-r...il_blu-ray.htm Code:

Hi, how are you all doing?
I’m considering purchasing the European release of Shane (1953) from Paramount, and I noticed that some editions — like the German one and a few other European versions — list Portuguese subtitles on Blu-ray.com: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Shane-Blu-ray/85834/ However, the site doesn’t specify whether the subtitles are in Brazilian Portuguese or European Portuguese. I can understand both just fine, but I definitely prefer Brazilian Portuguese. I know the distinction can be subtle for those unfamiliar with the language, but usually at the end of the film, there’s an indication like: Subtitles – Brazilian Portuguese. Could anyone who owns the German edition or any other European release of this film please confirm which variety of Portuguese is included? Thanks in advance! |
