Germany Shane/The Big Trail

Has anyone picked up these two titles yet (Shane/Paramount) (The Big Trail/Koch Media)? They were both released within the past month. Was curious to know if they're forced German subtitles on these discs.

Also, anyone know how the picture quality compares to US releases?

I haven't got them, but German BD editions don't generally have forced subtitles - this is much more of an issue with French editions. And it's extremely unlikely that a BD released by a major Hollywood studio such as Paramount would have forced subtitles anyway (even in France).

Can someone point me in the direction for a review of THE BIG TRAIL (Koch Media)? Can't find one anywhere. Need to know how the picture quality compares with the US release.

There are three amazon customer reviews. They are in german and don't say much about the image quality but they are all five star reviews:

Yeah, I translated those reviews, but like you said, they don't give much info on image quality.

BDinfo Report for the German Blu-ray of The Big Trail.
The picture quality looks noticably brighter than the US Blu-ray, similar to the French Blu-ray but with a stronger encode.

no forced subtitles as the german blu/dvd's dont have forced ones (or at least very rare titles like the Musical Version of Phantom of the Opera in the english speaking Version forced with german subtitles). this is actually the only titel/movie I know who has it.

Hi, how are you all doing?

I’m considering purchasing the European release of Shane (1953) from Paramount, and I noticed that some editions — like the German one and a few other European versions — list Portuguese subtitles on Blu-ray.com:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Shane-Blu-ray/85834/

However, the site doesn’t specify whether the subtitles are in Brazilian Portuguese or European Portuguese.

I can understand both just fine, but I definitely prefer Brazilian Portuguese. I know the distinction can be subtle for those unfamiliar with the language, but usually at the end of the film, there’s an indication like: Subtitles – Brazilian Portuguese.

Could anyone who owns the German edition or any other European release of this film please confirm which variety of Portuguese is included?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much, i've been looking for this information for a long time... I think this extends to other European editions as well.

Is the German edition free or region B locked?
