Well I saw a Spiderman commerical not mentioning DVD and only Highdef Blu-ray so they are trying to promote BR as a separate format from DVD.

It's about time, too. Nice subtle way to tell the general public that the days of DVD superiority are numbered... (of course, we all now it's over in terms of PQ & SQ!)

Now I know studios dont want to lose money by not releasing DVDs, but I think it would be a good idea to do a few select releases only on Blu-ray, they would lose money but it would help nudge consumers into Hi-Def. I'm sure plenty of otherwise uncertain people would buy a Blu-ray player if Pirates 3 wasnt available on DVD. It would be an investment in the future for studios, the faster Blu-ray takes over DVD, the faster consumers will rebuy their catalog titles.

Default Great Disney/Pixar Commercial

I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but this was the best Blu-ray ad I have seen yet. The commercial featured Cars and Ratatouille, and gave a brief demo of the interactive feature. Ok, so what was the big deal? The end...

Playable on Blu-ray players and the Playstation 3 system.

Finally the PS3 is being touted as a Blu-ray player.

yes this is exactly what we want. Not that crap walmart ad "its cheaper then I would have thought even for walmart!"

Give me movies I want to buy, tell me why they are better on blu with features and PQ, tell me i can buy a player or a PS3 and then how is the customer NOT sold on this?

I just saw the commercial. I think it's a smart approach in adding "Playstation 3" while talking about it's high defintion video and sound.

Absolutely. I was watching tv this weekend with some friends when that commercial came on. With all the talking I do about blu-ray "blu-ray this and blu-ray that" I thought all of my friends understood what the PS3 could do and what blu was all about. I had two friends ask, "what is the deal with that?" gee whiz. After the football game I turned on the PS3 and school was in session.
