Default Wal-Mart/Toshiba customer story... insane!!

Yesterday, I was at the Wal-Mart near my home (Perimeter Mall (Atlanta)), buying my weekly supply of Hot Pockets. I noticed that the HD-DVD (99 bucks) was stilled stocked to the gill. However, what really caught my eye is that people who were in line buying it (a total of 2 @ noon) were not buying HD-DVDs with the player, but regular DVDs. One the customers was telling the cashier that HD-DVDs were the same as DVD when upscaled. After the customer left, I went to the cashier and talked to him for a few minutes, and found out this.

1. Most of the people that morning bought DVDs NOT HD-DVDs with the Toshiba.
2. Many didn't even know you needed a HDTV to get the benefits.
3. People were buying because of the commercials and didn't even know what they were truely buying!!!! In other words...a lemming chasing the lemming fire sale!!!!

This goes to show that Toshiba is getting desperate and selling to anyone just to get the install base up!!!!
