Question Will PS4 be sold out for months?

Trying to find a place I can still preorder, missed the boat I think. Will this be sold out thru xmas? Don't want to pay reseller prices, but definitely want one before xmas. What do you all think?

i'm hoping get close to 1/2 the money for a ps4 from xmas and my b-day (12/31) so I personally won't mind if I can't get my hands on one right away.

Looking at the PS3 launch the answer is both yes and no. Once you are past the original launch day, machines will trickle in on every shipment, so it is a matter of being at the right place at the right time. On Dec 24 2006, I went to three stores, luckily Future shop had gotten a handful that day and there was one left when I got there.

Maybe try being friendly with one of the people that works at your local store so they can tell you when they get a new shipment in.

I liked those SO much more! Yeah we had one in Lafayette, a small town near us in north Georgia. I can remember when it wasn't even open 24/7! Went Christmas shopping there one year on Black Friday. We got there around 6:00am, found a front row parking space, went in and did our shopping, and found a check out lane with no one in line! LOL!

The EB I pre-ordered mine at were originally only taking 20 of each system but then opened them back up. They have 334 PS4's pre-ordered which I can't imagine they will come close to filling for a couple of months let alone whatever other stores have. They are scrambling to try and clear out room in the back because they don't know where they are putting the systems. They were not desperate enough to clear out space when I told them I would help clear out space for them with some big discounts on games though. Just glad I went the day pre-orders started and was second in line so only the one guy ahead of me + staff pre-orders. Probably some people really annoyed from that day when they were only taking 20 orders for both systems and more than 20 people were there for the PS4. They would have been high on the list if they didn't have the limit they lifted from the start.

But there are always bound to be stores that either don't take pre-orders or people don't think to go to so even if the likes of Gamestop don't have it chances are you can find it somewhere at launch. Like when the PS2 came out. None of the gaming or electronics oriented stores had it here but went it to Superstore (Mainly a grocery store) and they had plenty sitting there for sale.

Yeah, if online (reliable) retailers are out.. Checking stores you wouldn't normally think of going to... You'd be surprised.

Actually just thought of one right now. Zellars in Canada is becoming Target.

If you can't find one by launch, I would check Walmart and Target everyday. When I used to work at Walmart, PS3 shipments would just show up without a warning. The consoles would be gone within a couple hours of hitting the sales floor. We didn't make any announcements or call anybody. We just set them in the case and, a few minutes later, they would be gone. Put a couple more systems out to replenish and then those ones would be gone. Don't worry about being annoying to the associates, just keep checking. It's true, you have to be in the right spot at the right time.

I'm putting my launch system on Craigslist and eBay.

If I can get some sort of profit out of it, I'm definitely doing it.

I still remember how I got my PS2, because it was right after launch and as I was walking in to Best Buy, the guy next to me saw them unpacking a torn cardboard box with a PS2 poking out of it.

There were exactly 2 PS2s in the box(and in the shipment!), and he and I both bought one. The fun part was walking around the store carrying the thing and everybody who say it doing the "Wait, where'd you get that?" face.

Until supply is no longer constrained, all you can do is luck into a shipment.

I wonder if these will sell bc I imagine ALOT of people preordered consoles and extras just for that and considering how easy its been to do so this summer, Id imagine there will be quite a surplus.

yeah, same thing happened with the WiiU - a lot of bottom feeders bought 2 or 3 consoles hoping to flip them for profit and the market was flooded.

not sure if the same thing will happen here, but capitalism bro.

And I am going to laugh mercilessly at them when they fail to make a significant profit. I believe that anyone who wants a PS4 for Christmas will be able to get one. The XBox One might be a different story though.

The only people who will probably be disappointed are those didn't pre-order and want one on launch day. I have heard that a lot of retailers are creating a waiting list to discourage people from scalping them. good for them and I hope it works.

Not selling a pre-order is as painless as cancelling an Amazon order these days. I'll sell both my Amazon Xbox pre-orders if I can make some coin off them.

I think that Sony is managing the pre-orders closely to avoid to have people walking in stores and not be able to find anything on the shelves in November.

I think they will open the gates at intervals when they know they have some extras at this point (for online pre orders like for Amazon), but also want to maintain a good stock for the launch in stores on Nov. 15th.

Yes. Everything I have heard through retail chains (admittedly not much) and from Sony suggests that they are doing their best to make sure that there is sufficient availability and that scalpers won't be able to take advantage of people.

But then again, the only thing I hate more than scalpers are the ones who fall for scalpers.
