not sure if the same thing will happen here, but capitalism bro.
And I am going to laugh mercilessly at them when they fail to make a significant profit. I believe that anyone who wants a PS4 for Christmas will be able to get one. The XBox One might be a different story though.

The only people who will probably be disappointed are those didn't pre-order and want one on launch day. I have heard that a lot of retailers are creating a waiting list to discourage people from scalping them. good for them and I hope it works.

Not selling a pre-order is as painless as cancelling an Amazon order these days. I'll sell both my Amazon Xbox pre-orders if I can make some coin off them.

I think that Sony is managing the pre-orders closely to avoid to have people walking in stores and not be able to find anything on the shelves in November.

I think they will open the gates at intervals when they know they have some extras at this point (for online pre orders like for Amazon), but also want to maintain a good stock for the launch in stores on Nov. 15th.

Yes. Everything I have heard through retail chains (admittedly not much) and from Sony suggests that they are doing their best to make sure that there is sufficient availability and that scalpers won't be able to take advantage of people.

But then again, the only thing I hate more than scalpers are the ones who fall for scalpers.

Sony has announced it's holding back PlayStation 4 stock to make sure it can replenish retail inventory swiftly throughout the holiday season.

In an interview with Fox Business, Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Jack Tretton revealed the company wants to make sure stock is readily available throughout the holiday season, so anyone who wants to buy a PS4 can do so.

"We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 and through the holidays," he said. "So, we’re holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one.

"We can pre-sell every unit we can manufacture, and the good news is that production yields have been phenomenal. We're going to work very hard to make sure that every consumer that wants one gets one."

My only experience with a console near launch was the Wii.
Around 2months after it was released was the 1st time me and my younger siblings tried playing it at a cousins house. In the afternoon we tried to swing by a Target and BB and they both said that everytime they get a shipment in it doesn't stay on the floor for long.

That same weekend we went to a Fred Meyer (stores found in some west coast states) to do some grocery shopping and they had like 4-5 Wiis in their electronics section.

I'll wait though until I can order it from Newegg since it would save me $40 of tax
