so aside from watching movies at my friend's parents house who has an entertainment center probably worth more than my car, i have absolutely zero experience with this stuff. i'll be moving into my own place next month and finally want to take the plunge into the glorious world of surround sound...without spending a lot. the room that will have my tv is very small (8ftx11ft). tv will be on the 11ft wall and the kitchen is directly behind where the couch will be, so no wall to mount speakers on (2 rooms separated by counter). but i can have speakers mounted on the side walls. it's a rental so i won't be doing any internal wiring/doing in-wall speakers.
now that you have a little background, here's the set up i was thinking of. mirage nanoset 5.1 i like that these can be mounted upside down to the ceiling so that way i won't have to have speakers on stands behind the couch. i also hear good reviews about them. i was also looking at the polk rm705 as for the receiver, i really have no idea. i found several for around $250 like the denon avr-1513 and avr-e200. i only need 5.1 and couldn't care less about 3D. so that's my starting point. feel free to make suggestions. i would like to keep the total cost at or below $700. basically, i want something fairly cheap that won't leave me wanting to upgrade every time i pop in a movie and will fit in a bedroom-sized living room. apology in advance if you guys are tired of these threads... ![]() Last edited by sa412; 07-18-2013 at 02:58 PM. |
